This stock is my favorite from Crosman/Benj. It's the only one I know of they clear coat and it's pretty tough so it resists damage and of course the wood doesn't absorb dirt or oil. The color of mine is nice and looks identical to the picture. My next fav stock from them is the Trail Hardwood. The only difference between this and the Trail, aside from the stock, is the scope rail, no sling mounts, and a simple 4x32 scope. I prefer this scope dove rail, I don't use a sling, and many people upgrade the scope anyway so this is a great and cheaper option to the Trail.

Yes, I like this rifle. The finish on the stock and the wood it is made of is my only dislike. The rifle shoot's well out to 30 yards for me and is great for field target and plinking. So, it you don.t mind refinishing the stock with a more durable finish. I recommend this rifle. I refinished my rifle by painting the stock with Hammer finish Rustoleum and it turned out very well. I started to refinish it with Birchwood Casey but the stock is a soft wood and will not stain well. I recommend the rifle to those who like to experiment and can use a stock Benjamin Trigger. It is not an expensive piece and is great fun. I would and may purchase another one just to play with the stock some more. I kind of wish Benjamin would have used hardwood though.

Yes, it can be. It delivers significant amount of foot pounds (power pretty much) and is quiet along with a fairly high fps.

Neil: The scope problem can be fixed. It's the harsh reverse recoil that breaks scopes and tries to rip the mounts off, but that can be reduced quite a bit. Basically it's air leakage that causes it, and the more the gun leaks the harder it is on the scope, which is why one gun will be more abusive than another. So look at the breech seal first and check for leakage there. The main seal no doubt leaks, but how much is the question. Pellet choice is another, it's best to stick to 8g+ in .177, and 14g+ in .22. Never dry fire the gun or use cleaning pellets without a lead pellet. Never deep seat the pellet either, just gently push it in with your finger, no further. There are other tricks too but too much to get into here, so [email protected] if you have Q's. My scopes do not move or break, so imo a little work and a few $ in parts is well worth saving the scope, especially if you buy a more expensive one.

It is virtually the same gun. The differences are the stock, sling mounts, scope rail, and the scope that comes packaged with it. Internally everything is exactly the same, and every part inside or out is interchangeable.

I have both. I put a replacement trigger from Charlie da tuna in the Trail (about $30-40). I modified the Regal trigger according to a method on Youtube. Besides the different calibers, I think the Trail is a bit more accurate and certainly hits harder than the Regal by a few ft lbs. The amazing thing about my Trail is that it became the easiest cocking breakbarrel rifle I have ever used. I have no idea why. At first, I thought the piston or the seal went bad. I had a very nice looking Norica that lost power gradually and, consequently, I could cock it using a finger. But by then, it didn't have enough power to push the pellet out of the barrel. The Trail also seemed to get easier and easier to cock,...still needs one whole arm and hand...but it has not lost a bit of power that I can see. Not true of the Regal...it takes a little strength to keep cocking it. But, I also have a .177 Titan and the Regal is easier to cock, a lot smoother cocking and firing cycle, higher quality finish (especially the stock) and better balance. Both are about equally accurate. The Titan has broken several scopes and ruined 2 dovetail to picatinny adapters. The recoil from the Titan is so hard and sharp, it bent or cut the set screws that served as scope stops, reamed the hole for the scope stop and stripped the aluminum edges right off the adapters. I have to use a red dot scope which is lighter and less massive than a normal scope ...and an extra long adapter with 4 screws plus scope stop. But the Regal has a gentler recoil. Both it and the Trail have not killed any scopes or stripped off adapters or scope rings. For me, although I slightly favor the Trail, I would recommend either rifle as long as you "fix" the trigger. If you favor a .22, go with the Trail. If you want a .177, then get the Regal. (Also, .177 pellets are a much cheaper.) Either rifle is a joy to shoot. I highly recommend them both.

I just received the Benjamin Regal NP .177 caliber. I am satisfied with the rifle itself, it works well and it is very powerful. I am, however, extremely dissatisfied with the scope, it is of worst quality possible. I have decided not to use it at all and replaced with a different, much better quality one. I do not have a Benjamin .22 air rifle, I have a Crossman NP instead. I am very satisfied with it, including the scope.

I would say they are equal as far as materials are concerned. I just like the more convetional design of the Regal Nitro Piston. Just could be my age is showing.

HI, both guns are quite similar, the Regal .177 use smaller pellets, although you can find a Benjamin Regal in .22. The Regal reach a velocity of 1200 ft/s with alloy pellets, and the trail a 950 ft/s (It use a heavier pellet). If I were you, I buy the Trail, bigger ammo and it looks nicer. Moreover it comes with a 3-9x40 scope. and the Regal comes with a 4x32 I have a Regal, Its a very good airgun for the price.

Nitro piston is much better! Not only is it much quieter, unlike traditional spring guns, it does not have a metal spring that can be damaged if left cocked for too long.

For me the nitro piston is better,is very quiet.

Yes,but you need to get a head shot or a heart and lung shot.The most important thing is your accuracy,if you can hit a dime at 25 yards every time then you can hit a pheasant head. It will go clean through it.Make sure it is allowed where you hunt.Some States do not.

22 cal is definitely better for small game in my opinion.has more knockdown power

This Regal would be just fine.I believe you should look at some reviews of some air rifles that you like the looks of.Then narrow it down to the one you like best.German guns seem to have a little better quality, better resale also. I have hunted with both .177 and .22 both did a great job of taking game under 40 yards.But they both were very .accurate. .177 pellets are easier to get and cheaper most of the time,so keep that in mind.In the end it is your choice,Best of luck

I think they work fine, but compared to others they're low end. You have to consider the price which only adds $10 or so to your cost, so for the money it's great, but compared to one that's $100 not so much. The 4x32's I have are clear and function perfectly, but the reticle is a bit fat so it covers small targets at range. Like it might be hard to shoot an aspirin tablet at 100' if it's hidden behind the wires. The 3-9x40AO scope on the Trails is better, but with the increased magnification the distortion from the lens is more obvious. It doesn't bother some people, others consider it unacceptable. I suppose if you're used to nice scopes then it would be annoying. The AO is nice to have for airguns since parallax is a much bigger problem at close range. The 4x32 parallax is set at ~100', so if shooting targets at 33' then you'll have a problem. The non adjustable scopes are actually adjustable, just not as easily as the AO. When I get one of these non adj versions I set to to ~60-70' which works fairly well for most ranges I shoot at, but you can set it to whatever you want.

The scope is unbelievably BAD!

You can kill any small animals like; birds, squirrels, rabbit (with headshot) Maybe you could kill a bigger animal if it is a headshot. No you do not need any CO2 cartridges, the gas piston is a mechanism to compress the air. You do not need anthing to shoot the gun,. (I bought this gun and the Nitro Piston broke in the 12th shoot)

Joe, Not his particular gun is a break barrel. Break barrel air rifles are rifles that use a spring power-plant to compress and air chamber. To cock the gun you simply "break the barrel" down (it swings on a hinge), load the pellet and break the barrel back up into position. Break barrel air rifles are one of the most common air rifles on the market. They are affordable and can produce power from 600 FPS all the way up to 1500 FPS. Hope that answers your question. It has a cast metal trigger, maybe powdered metal? I'd take it any day over any Gamo gun, but that's me. If you're wondering if this is quieter, yes it is. They're very similar guns, but this has a much nicer stock and a suppressor barrel. The Gamo barrel is plastic with a steel straw down the middle, the Crosman barrel is solid steel with a hollow aluminum suppressor shroud around it. If you want to compare more equally you might try a less fancy Crosman, like a Titan or Venom, this Regal is more expensive due to the fancy stock and suppressor. Apples to apples Crosman are cheaper than Gamo, and imo always nicer looking.

l'm sure your solution to the gopher/mole problem with a 410 is quite satisfactory. lt sounds like fun target shooting to me, but if you don't live in the country where neighbors are few then of course there will be problems. The Benjamim Regal Nitro .177 that l bought has more than enough power to send any gopher / mole on their way to the "nether land". Another plus is that hunting pellets are a lot more affordable than shotgun ammo. Although a scope is included with this rifle, l chose to replace it with a red dot sight. That's just my personal preference. Good hunting

Any air gun will be quiter than a .410 shotgun. However keep the pellets subsonic by using heavier ones. 10 gram pellets work well. If you go with the lighter alloy pellets they break the soundbarrier and are as loud as a .22 cal rimfire. You should be fine.

It would be hard to find a quieter break barrel because it has a nitro spring and suppressor. Benjamin offers the same gun but with a different stock so you might read some reviews of those, like the Benj Trail Hardwood, or All Weather. Power will be between 14 and 18ftlbs depending on the guns flaws, usually closer to 16ftlbs but you can't tell until you shoot it. You can however bump any of them up to 18 -18.5ftlbs by fixing any internal flaws. Accuracy is the same, you can't tell until you shoot it. These guns are made in China so it's hit an miss as to what you'll get. I'd suggest getting the gun you want, test it right away, and return if unhappy. Or you can do what I do which is fix what I do get.

The nitro are typically much quieter to fire and smoother to cock. They're also harder to cock, and much more money to buy the gun or replacement spring. The guns are usually $50 more. However a coil gun can easily be tuned to be as quiet and smooth and retain 98% of the power that a nitro has while lasting longer and being easier to cock. Basically I see it like this; if you plan on tuning the gun then I'd go coil, if I don't plan on taking the gun apart I'd go nitro. A coil gun works fine without a tune btw, it's just that annoying spring twang that gets on my nerves. That twang is where half the guns noise comes from which is why a nitro is quieter. Btw, a nitro is just a pneumatic spring, like the black tube struts that hold the rear door of an SUV.

The spring gun uses a coil spring about 5/8" diameter and 11" long. The nitro is also a spring but uses compressed nitrogen instead. It's similar to the thin black struts you see holding up rear doors on SUV's. The coil is more reliable at this point in time, but maybe some day the nitro will be better. The nitro spring is stronger, but the nitro gun has basically the same power as the coil gun (assuming they're the same type, like this vs a Crosman Quest or Optimus). Being stronger it is much harder to cock. The nitro spring is virtually silent so the gun is overall quieter than a coil gun. Since the noise of a coil spring can be very annoying, this alone can be a factor. However the coil springs noise can be dampened to be equally as quiet using "spring tar". All that and nitro guns are usually about $50 more than the coil equivalent. Also, a replacement coil spring is less than $6, a nitro spring is $26 and much harder to replace.

Gas Piston Technology uses Nitrogen as the power source, instead of a steel spring.

At the very beginning of the stroke it'll be about 8lbs, then half way maybe 22-24lbs, and 28-32 at peak right before it catches the trigger. The variation of 28-32 is basically friction, so a new gun you can expect closer to 32, but if you tune it it'll drop to about 28. Crosman coil spring guns start about 3, then 16-18 half way, then 24-26 at peak.

The cocking action is average for this rifle. I have a blown shoulder and I am still able to cock this barrel with minimal effort. My 14yr old grand son can cock this with a little effort.Make sure your pellet is inserted completely inserted in the chamber otherwise you will not be able to close the barrel and in the chance that you do the skirt will be crimped and the pellet may become lodged in the barrel.

Hard to say, but I'd guess 12 for a boy. The coil spring versions (Quest, Optimus etc) are easier to cock, maybe 40% easier overall but power is virtually identical. The advantages of this Regal are the nitro spring and suppressor both make it quieter than a typical gun, maybe half as loud. However a coil spring gun can be made to be as quiet with some spring tar and adding the suppressor.

Well, they do and don't have a break in period. For example the Stoeger guns which are basically identical claim no break in required. You can shoot this right away and not worry about anything, but when new they're a little rough on some internal parts so they feel smoother with time and get maybe 10% easier to cock too. There's also a lot of thick grease in there which costs you some power until it wears off. The accuracy won't change by much, but out of the box the barrels are usually extremely dirty so shooting it would clean it somewhat, but you should really clean it yourself first thing. I always take my guns apart and tune them which is like an instant break in only better. As for how many shots that's hard to say. It'll feel better after 100 shots, but not by much. The second hundred shots will help too but not as much as the first and so on. Usually people say 500 shots for it to mostly settle in. Note that the first 10-20 or more shots will be very loud because the excess grease inside is igniting when you fire it, it's called dieseling or detonation. After it's done being loud it'll then smoke for 50-100 shots or more as it burns the last of grease. It will repeat this whenever you oil the chamber, but it isn't nearly as bad, maybe 2-4 loud and 20 smoke.

Yes, for most airguns (breakbarrel at least), there is a break-in period. During this time, the gun is less accurate, and occasionally, uncommonly loud, and might feel a little rough. The break-in period lasts anywhere from 50-200 shots, depending on the gun and the pellet being used. Hope this helps you!

I like the H&N and JSB brands best. Usually the 8.4 to 10.5gr weights work best. Cheap Crosman and Daisy can work too, it all depends on what you and your individual gun are happy with I suppose. Pellets can really add up, but if you really want the best you need to try a variety of them. The JSB 8.4gr round nose and H&N Barracuda are my most favorite of all for all .177 guns.

I've shot this rifle, with the factory scope mounted, and the scope was good, but not durable enough for this rifle. The crosshairs were twisting in the scope, revealing that the scope was broken internally. Accuracy is fair, good enough for max 50yds.

I've heard of more failures with the nitro, they leak and obviously lose power. In coil guns the coil spring sometimes break, but I think they have a better track record. A replacement nitro is $26, a coil is $6... If you buy a spare coil it'll be fine the day you decide to use it, a spare nitro however could leak out while it's been sitting.

Typically nitro pistons are supposed to last way longer than a regular spring gun, but this gun hasn't been out long enough to see if it lasts longer yet.

That is a break barrel rifle, so you pull the barrel down to cock it.

Actually it's the Remington Summit stock with a Nitro spring and tube body like used in the Titan (not the Trail) and a shrouded barrel like the Trail but in .177. The Venom stock is very different and uglier than this one. This is one of the nicest stocks they make. So no, no custom design here, all previously used parts simply put together differently to make a "new" model.

I doubt they'll ever make one but you can buy a .22 barrel from Crosman for ~$16, plus another $8 or so for some needed parts, +$4 shipping. That way you can have a dual caliber gun...

this is a quiet pellet gun that does NOT fire bb's. If you type in bb or use the search on our site, all of the bb guns are very quiet.

It varies between guns, but it's around 5lbs. It's the same trigger used on most all the Crosman, Rem, Benj guns. The triggers are adjustable, very adjustable, but in order to do that you have to replace the oem adj screw with a longer one. It seems the oem screw is short on purpose to prevent people from adjusting it too light and therefore unsafe. It's a very nice gun, I'm tempted myself and I don't even need it.
