If you are direct filling your airgun or topping off small tanks which the manufacture says is OK save your money on the disposable cheap compressors and treat yourself to one of these. You won't be disappointed.
Pros
I purchased this compressor as a direct fill to my airguns only since all my shooting is is my backyard. So far it has performed flawlessly. The quality manufacturing of this unit is second to none! The digital controls are easy to use. The unit is air cooled but also lubricated by oil in the crank case and silicone oil which keeps the piston lubricated. No need to worry about water or antifreeze. What I really like is all the video support Hill has produced in reguards to maintenance and servicing of this unit. It appears to be a very simple unit to maintain and repair if needed. Only time will tell if this unit will stand up but judging by other reviews I have complete confidence in it.
Cons
I have nothing negative to say about this unit. It does exactly what it is designed to do,reliably fill airgun!
I am very impressed with this compressor! It seems to be well built in England and has real warranty. It does what I need it to do quickly and quietly. It topped Texan CF bottle from 3000 to 3625 psi in less than a minute. Some have wondered about larger tanks with this compressor. Manual says it will fill tanks but larger tanks should be filled by experienced individual (whatever that means). I chose not to fill large tanks from zero with the unit. I have two tanks ( a 100cc and 6.8 liter). I had them filled at scuba shop and use the Hill to top them from 3000 to 4400 psi. The 6.8L took 5-10 min but I wasn't timing. There were about 5 cooling breaks during the fill. Scuba shop charges $45 to fill both tanks so in 27 fills the Hill will have paid for itself (not to mention the huge convenience of filling at home, ok I mentioned it). For me this unit was perfect compromise. I can fill gun and top tanks quickly but yet save $1000+ over non-Chinese 4500 psi compressors.
Pros
1. Build quality seems excellent.
2. Ease of set up (Comes fully assembled - just add oils and plug in!)
3. Air cooled (No distilled water!)
4. Auto shut off for pressure and cooling
5. Quickly and quietly fills Texan and tops off small and large CF tanks
6. Accurate digital gauge and run clock
7. Low maintenance (change oils after 50 hours operation or 1 year)
Cons
1. Wish it would fill to 4500 psi (firmware in mine fills to 4400 psi)
2. Control dial takes some getting used to
3. Not easy to get oil refills (seem to be frequently back ordered)
4. Does not come with double male adapter to fill air tanks
5. Heavy 50+ lbs - but built like tank
Just received the unit today, but so far I'm very impressed. Without any extra air filters attached it filled my gun from 1400 psi to 3100 psi in 1.5 minutes. The temp only got to 54 degrees celsius. The unit will automatically shut off and cool at 75C, then restart, another cool feature pardon the pun. I'm definitely going to like this especially after using a hand pump for 2 years. We'll see how the unit hold up after some hours using it. The unit is also super quiet. I was surprised when I first ran it how quiet it was. This is probably because the units is built like a tank with a very solid crank case. I'll update on this down the road if AD will let me.
Pros
The digital display is definitely cool. The fill times are fast, at least for my Marauders.
Cons
It would be nice if Hill supplied a rebuild kit with the unit.
Question?
Login to ask someone who bought this product.what is the lubricating oil? some compressors use Hydraulic oil, and of that is the case it is readily available in most auto supply stores. synthetic oil for the filter is readily available on Amazon or Ebay and i even purchased from WalMart..
asked Byron from USAPlease note the Crank Oil is now red and the Silicone Oil is clear. The very first EC-3000 units were manufactured with clear crank oil but we have now changed this to be dyed red so that both oils can be differentiated from each other. Both of these oils have been specifically manufactured and designed for use with the EC-3000 Electric Compressor. No other oils should be used with the EC-3000.
Kip from USAis anyone from AGD gonna Read / Answer these questions? Not gonna drop a $G without knowing - positively - this will fill Scuba-volume tanks (75 cu. ft and up) and how well it Does-so - if it does. AGD?.............
asked Jon from USAWe can't officially recommend that the EC-3000 allows users to fill their own diving bottle, but this is more due to the fact that anyone filling diving bottles should be trained and qualified to do so. Diving bottles represent a very large amount of stored energy. There is a set procedure which should be adhered to including checking the date, and inspecting the cylinder for signs of damage etc. Mechanically speaking the compressor is capable of filling any size of vessel, however it will last longer between services when filling guns directly to 230 bar rather than filling a diving cylinder to 300 bar. We recommend filling guns directly whenever possible. Kind regards, Laura Smith Ernest H Hill Ltd. Longacre Way Holbrook Sheffield S20 3FS England Registered in England No. 91553
Jeff from USACan we simply get a "definitive" answer from Hill? I mean, all due respect / appreciation for the answers, 'I think' isn't very comforting on a $1200. purchase, so.. Jus sayin..
Jon from USAWill fill larger tanks but recommend just topping them off.
Michael from USAAll of the videos say no its for gun only.
TERRY from USAdo you recommend this to fill guns or will file tanks?
asked mike grahamThe description states digital display. However, I do not dee this in any of the pictures.
asked Ronald from USAThe Digital Display is on the black panel, right above the silver rotary dial, it is invisible when powered off.
Kip from USAMax fill capacity?
asked PecaneroNew firmware allows fills to 4400 psi
Michael from USANew firmware allows fills to 4400 psi
Michael from USACan this compressor be used to fill a 3 liter carbon fiber tank and not over work it?
asked Bryan WallYes, I think so.
Michael from USAIt this going to fill my texan ? thank you!
asked joel cielakYes, it will with no problem.
Michael from USACan I fill 100 cf tanks with it? What is the cf/h pump rate?
asked Jeffery from USAThat is very large tank. I would not make a habit of filling that large a tank completely. I think compressor could top it from -3000psi though.

Pros
Uses less oil and power than the cheaper compressors do. Much quieter than others also. Easy to use once you go through a couple of fill-ups.
Cons
Add the filter to the package. Ended up ordering after getting the compressor adding days to get up and going.
