If you shoot a lightweight pellet so its velocity exceeds the speed of sound, it could result in your pellet breaking the sound barrier and the gun being louder than expected! The speed of sound depends on humidity, temperature and altitude. Generally speaking, it's between 1,060 fps and 1,115 fps.

Here are the benefits of the Nitro Piston:
  • Smoother cocking
  • Smoother shooting
  • No spring torque
  • No spring fatigue, even if you leave it cocked for hours
  • Functions perfectly in cold weather
  • Lasts longer than a metal spring

I have read so many complaints about this Benjamin Trail. You must have all gotten a bad one, or just don't know how to shoot! I am an accomplished shooter with many years of benchrest,IPSC,PPC, and 1,000 yard match rifle shooting. This rifle does exactly what it is intended for! Hunting! It isn't a match rifle and if you were to take the time to match a pellet to the specific bore (everyone is different) you would see that this is a great shooting rifle with enough energy to hunt small to medium sized game. I have shot consistent 5 shot half inch groups at 25 yards with this rifle. More than respectable for a break barrel air rifle. I changed out the barrel shroud for one that was carbon fibre, doesn't relieve the weight at all but esthetically it looks awesome! And then there is the downfall of EVERY Crosman rifle ever made (break barrel) and that is the trigger. I got used to using it after a few months but got tired of having to guesstimate where it was going to break every time. I watched several videos on you tube about the trigger. Unfortunately I was not able to order one of the Charlie Da Tuna GRT 3 triggers for it because they don't ship to Canada. So I did the next best thing and used the stock Crosman trigger with a 2x5mm RC car wheel bearing. Just by doing that, it got rid of all the travel in the trigger and breaks just shy of 2 pounds every time! Try it you will notice how this will improve your accuracy and love for shooting this rifle! My only gripe if I had one about this rifle is they didn't offer it in .25 cal like the Benjamin Trail NPXL.

Pros
Heft Great scope Accurate powerful enough for hunting small to medium sized game Real Tree camo stock Thumbhole through grip Weaver Rail Sling stud and loop

Cons
Trigger but there are fixes for this CDT GRT3 trigger,2x5mm RC car wheel bearing Cases are hard to find for this rifle

Nice looking rifle, unable to get a consistant group. trigger is really difficult to deal with if you have any experience with trggers. Overall the gun was a dissapointment. the customer service was helpful and a new scope may be the ticket before I send it back fpor a refund.

Pros
Smooth cocking action, like the sling brackets, the camo is cool
