This is a fantastic air pistol, I don't think I'm being hyperbolic in saying this thing will likely outshoot you. I've done a few minor mods to the gun, machined aluminum side plate, replaced the safety for a metal one, replaced the sear with a better unit and changed the CO2 screw cap to something that's easier to get purchase on when installing and removing. Apart from that it's as it came from the box and shoots ridiculous groups in the right hands with good pellets. I'm attaching a 10 shot group shot offhand at 25 feet indoors (can't quite make 10 meters) I think we can agree that's a solid performance from such an inexpensive pellet pistol. That having been said, I'm annoyed that better grips aren't more widely available. The Crosman Custom Shop will not sell you the wooden target grips which is a real piss off. There were apparently some in the aftermarket making them but I can't seem to run any down so for now the crappy plastic grips will have to suffice.
Pros
Accuracy, Price, Availability of Mods
Cons
Grips, Grips, Grips, and did I mention the Grips?
For years I was A big bore and 22 silhouette shooter and have a number of firearms I used to shoot weekly but now i can shoot inside or on my deck at any time. A small cardboard box stuffed tightly with newspaper is an adequate pellet stop
Pros
It is a great gun , I purchased a match adjustable trigger from Alliance mine is adj for 16 oz with virtually no detectable movement, just touch it and it shoots so it does not cause any gun movement. The main reason i am commenting is because i have a Winchester 2X7 scope on mine and have had a red dot sight. I wanted to correct what another person stated about not being able to mount a scope.Deadly accurate and fun shooting. I have hanging targets in my back yard and can hit a 12 g CO2 tube every single time as long as i concentrate Great pistol and I have there rifle stock also. I shoot daily
Cons
I would like to have an oversized grip that I could shape to fit my hand perfectly. At one time I would have made one but just not up to it at this time.
This pistol has been accurate and reliable. I have owned it for 6 months, fired at various temperatures and conditions. Shot count of around 6000, no issues.
Rear sight is canted as has been mentioned before. It doesn’t affect accuracy but it doesn’t look nice. I have tinkered with the trigger, it’s not good. The trigger is very gritty and inconsistent. It was worth the money though. I’ve gotten a lot of training time out of it.

My 4h shooting sports team using these in competition. They have been the #1 teamfor 2 yrs running after switching to these guns.
This gun is worth every penny for accuracy and dependability. After sighting in, and it took some time as I am a novice shooter, it wasn't long before I was shooting tight groups with regularity. I've had no clogs or misfires after several hundred rounds and it's just plain fun to shoot. I give it a four and a half because the sights were at an angle when seated into the slots provided on the barrel. It's a slight misgiving but bugs me anyway.
Pros
Good midrange gun. Accurate.
Cons
Sights seated at an angle when installed
Great shooting Pistol. Very accurate. Fun to shoot. I love the trigger too.
Pros
Great for plinking fun. Easy to load. Good balance.

Accuracy is number one on my list of pros .!. I have a collection of 19 air-pistols. This particular target pistol is my favorite because of it's accuracy. I shoot target practice every day and this is by far the most accurate of all. I actually purchased this Crosman 2300S because I was looking to improve my overall score. I'm not disappointed.!. If you're looking for more accuracy and pleasure in your shooting, this is the one to buy ..
Pros
Accuracy .!.
Cons
None ..
I normally don't write reviews ... but the performance of this pistol is spectacular.
Having been an avid shooter and re-loader for many years , I have spent thousands of dollars building guns and hand tailoring loads ( I know not relevant to airguns) to duplicate the accuracy of the 2300S out of the box. After about 12 rounds to " lead the barrel" it was shooting same hole groups at 11 yards during the sight in process. This was with the first pellets tried.(JSB MATCH DIABOLO EXACT 8.44 gr.) Can't wait to "wind it out"at further yardage.
I can already tell this little shooter will be a staple at teaching anyone the fundamentals of pistol shooting.
THUMBS UP TO CROSMAN!!! SPOT ON!
Pros
Accuracy. Awesome rear sight. Way lower noise level than expected at full power setting. Adjustable trigger (poundage and stop).
Cons
Front sight canted to the left a bit.
Trigger has a little creep, but not bad.
Plastic grips... but I didn't expect $300 grips on a $270 air pistol.
After receiving this pistol, I have to say that Crossman has really created an awesome pellet pistol. You can adjust just about everything to make your shot as accurate as possible. I am somewhat shakey with a pistol, and my eyesight is not great, but before long, I was hitting bullseyes at a quarter size bullseye area at approx. 10yds.
The price is somewhat high, but believe me you get what you pay for!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Pros
adjustable velocity
adjustable trigger pull too 1lb. pull
competition rear sight
great style
Cons
nothing I can honestly say at this time.
Question?
Login to ask someone who bought this product. Is there a grip for left handed or ambidextrous for this gun. Or can anyone suggest a good gun for a left hand, thanks
asked kimI beg to differ with one of your comments. This pistol CAN ABSOLUTELY have a scope, that's what the dovetail cuts on the breech are for. You have to put an adapter for a weaver mount on or buy a scope with an 11mm mounting capability.
asked FredIs this good for left handed. Do I have to change the grips
asked LeonI am presently shooting a crosman c02 rifle which has a refillable cartridge. Is there a refillable cartridge available for the pistol or do you have to use the store bought co2 cartridge?
asked DaveYes..go too Alliancehobby.com they have an upgrade to be able to attach a refillable bottle..and the bottles too i belive!
Marilyn from USAWhat is the noise level with the Crosman 2300S? Can I use it in my yard without drawing unwanted attention?
asked Mikecan a scope be mounted on this gun
asked tom holderYes, it has the steel breech with 11mm dovetail to accommodate a scope or other sights.
patrick from USAthis gun cannot have a scope sue to the lack of rails
Scott from USA
Attention J Reddy I purchased nice custom wood grips for my crossman model 2240 which may have the same grip frame. Alliance Hobby may have them.
