I purchased this gun just over a year ago and "LOVE" that nitro piston power. My biggest regreat is that I did'nt look over the gun really good when I first got it. After shooting it multible times I noticed cracks around the rear sight/handle tightening knobs which ultimatley broke off. I have since took off the front sight as well and replaced it with an a.r. red/green dot scope and once adjusted this bad boy hit's dead accurate. If you buy the rifle....make sure you check it for cracks. For best results, put a good scope on it and it becomes one bad ass dead accurate and powerful rifle. It's very much worth the cost : ]]

Pros
Excellant value for the power it has.

Cons
Plastic sights crack and fail.......Purchase a good scope.

I've had this gun for a little while now and absolutely love it! The nitro piston out performs any spring piston break-barrel in cold weather climate shooting. Due to the shorter than normal barrel the cocking effort is quite high, but it's a solid locking barrel and is VERY accurate. I was shooting quarter sized groups with out of the box conditions (using predator polymags, highly recommended). I gave this gun a 4 because it requires a little bit of work to make it a great gun. First, it's construction is not like an AR upper and lower receiver but rather a two half sandwich. This left a nasty bur along the cheek rest, in the trigger guard, and the fore grip. This is easily fixed though by running a blade along the bur and cutting it off. Secondly the butt pad is hard plastic, and is quite uncomfortable. The biggest problem with this is that the stock likes to slip off your leg when your cocking the gun. This is also an easy fix as you can either switch out the pad with that of another Crosman gun, like I did, or get a rubber slip on pad. Lastly as with all Crosman guns, the trigger SUCKS! However if you don't feel like taking A LOT of times to break it in there are other options. You can either spend $40 or so on a Charlie da Tuna trigger, or under $2 on a RC car bearing. Either way you end up taking apart the gun to install but the bearing is cheaper, easier, and does the same job. A good video on this mod is on YouTube by -myairgunreviews- and it shows him doing this mod to this gun! Buy the cheaper version of this gun as both iron sights and crap scope are not sturdy enough to be mounted to this gun. Put on another scope! After all that though this makes a very accurate, powerful, and fun to shoot gun. Check out my YouTube channel "Backyard Expeditionary" for more info on the gun, videos coming soon.

Pros
Fun, realistic, accurate, powerful

Cons
A couple easily fixable things as mentioned in my review.

Great weight, balance, and feel. I don't know what the actual velocity is, but you can hold a 1" group at 30 yards in the standing off hand. Extremely fun to shoot!!!

Pros
Looks cool, very powerful and accurate. Trigger is a little long but pretty smooth. I do like the 2 stage trigger.

Cons
None for the money.

Anyone have velocity numbers with the pellet weight? I'm curious how much power is lost with the short barrel.

asked ROBERT from USA

There is no power drop off at all. It shots very hard. Go to youtube, look for myairgunreviws, by Kenny. He has some shooting test with a Krony. Mine shoots very hard and penetrates a 2x4 about 1/2" deep at 15 yards. I bought a UTG carry handle for mine, and also a ITG low profile front sight because the Crosman sights aren't thay good. Mine is very accurate now.

James from USA

Can you remove air stripper and fit a silencer

asked Del

I don't think so,its all one piece molded plastic around the steel barrel.

James from USA

Short answer "not very easily" Longer answer: If you look carefully at the "barrel/Front sight" you will see a very small gap to the rear of the front sight, thats because the barrel is what called a pencil barrel with a plastic tube over it so they could add a sight mount and flash supressor to it. The whole plastic assembly would have to be removed I wouldnt attempt it as you might cause damage to the front sight ...looks like its pinned.

stephen from USA

How far does it shoot?

asked Danny

Well my girlfriend and I shoot 5 a gallon pails at 100 yards with it. Hit it on average of 7-8 out of 10 About 2 mil-dot on the scope holdover

stephen from USA

Why are there 2 different sights in the pictures ? The original photo shows one on the barrel and the other photos show a smaller style sight. Does the Rifle come with the sight on the main picture ?

asked Leo from USA

It comes with the one in most of the pictures that mounts to a rail, it does not come with the triangular one. With a slight mod AR magazines will fit for an even cooler look.

Daniel from USA

The picture with the sight mounted on the barrel makes this gun look like the M16 A2 The other picture is makes the gun look like AR 15, 3 or 4

Gerald from USA

I believe the question you are asking is about the "front" sight. In the two different pictures one photo appears to have a "fitted" front sight (to the barrel) and the other photo appears to have a "small picatinny mount" for a detachable front sight. Mine came with the detachable front sight and a small picatinny rail to add or remove a front sight. I added a real aluminum AR-15 handle and mount, then added a real AR-15 scope, it sits high enough the use both sight systems.

stephen from USA

one sight is the main rifle sight and the other is a selector sight with 2 size "viewing holes". u line up the fore sight on the barrel with the appropriate size hole in the back. idk if this is helpfull but i believe it comes with both

jacob

Check out the picture of mine, this is how the front sght is mounted. But mone has a UTG low profile front sight and a URG AR15 carry handle sight in the back. The supplied sights from Crosman where tough to zero on mine.

James from USA

the rifle comes with the removable carry handle style sight and a removable front sight. the front sight sits on a weaver style rail. it does not look like the picture shown.I did not use the supplied sights from Crosman, instead I ordered UTG sights on Amazon .com. I also added a Blackhawk sling. The Crosman MTR77 is a very nice and accurate rifle with the new UTG sights. I recommend it. Check out my picture.

James from USA

Can you mount a scope on the carry handle?

asked James

Not with the Crosman stock carry handle. You would need to order the UTG carry handle, It has a mounting hole in the center of the carry handle for a weaver rail attachment. This will work : Ncstar Carry Handle Mount/Adapter AR15 5 Inch US Forces Weaver Style Rail Con... You will have to remove the front sight.

James from USA

Is the removable carry handle made of plastic or metal?

asked Michelle from USA

It's plastic. I added a "real" AR-15 handle (aluminum) and AR scope with the ramped handle mount for AR's Works great.

stephen from USA

Does the carry handle come off to mount a scope? The description says this is a "combo". What is the "combo" describing?

asked PV

I understand that this MTR77 rifle combo incudes the removable front sight as well as the removable carry handle, where the other MTR77 combo is the rifle with unmounted scope with mounts.

Michelle from USA

The carry handle is removable. The combo basically states that with the purchase you get the combination of both the rifle and a mountable laser.
