The CZ P-09 firearm is becoming more and more popular, so they cloned a CO2 pistol for some fun on your home range. This detailed pistol is almost indistinguishable from the firearm it copies. Use it to maintain firearm proficiency or just have a great time picking off tin cans, making holes in paper targets, blowing the tops off dandelion puffs and more. Use wadcutter lead pellets or steel BBs.

CZ P-09 Duty Pistol Features
  • Uses a 12-gram CO2 cartridge
  • 16rd removable pellet and BB magazine (stick mag with 8rd rotary mag on each end and accepts either lead pellets or steel BBs)
  • Blowback
  • Rifled barrel
  • Looks like the firearm
  • Fixed sights (2 whited dots on rear sight, 1 white dot on front sight)
  • Manual safety
  • Weaver accessory rail
  • Threaded muzzle

The manufacturer states this gun delivers 492 fps. Our tech department tested it with 5.1-grain pellets and got 412 fps max velocity. Steel BBs delivered a max velocity of 390 fps. Steel BBs can ricochet. The shooter and everyone in the shooting area should wear safety glasses when a gun is being handled (even if it's unloaded). Remember to remove all pets from the area, as rebounding ammo can hit them, too. Never shoot steel BBs at hard objects (including metal targets) or water, as that increases the chance of ricochet.

My CZ P-09 came today, and out of the box, I was favorably impressed. I have seen other guns in line-up tagged as "cheap plastic copies". Well this is a copy of a PLASTIC gun. Hard to knock it for being true to the original. That said, the plastic is not top quality. It is too brittle, and could be prone to breakage. The appearance is very close to the original, and the weight is about the same as an unloaded CZ P-09. It would have been nice if they had added a little weight to compensate for the 12 oz of ammo you add to the real pistol, but it is still acceptable. I like that the trigger, hammer, safety, and faux slide stop are metal. My only knock on the appearance is the "ejection port". I understand that cutting it out is added machining, and would have required a simulated breech block. That would be an unnecessary cost, but why not black it out with paint, or at least put a decal in there?

I was surprised with the actual shooting. I used RWS Basics, 7.0 gr, and it performed flawlessly. Right on point of aim at 10 yards, and, while I didn't break out the Chrony, I can easily believe a 400FPS muzzle velocity. I have read in other reviews that this gun tends to shoot to the left, but I had no problem eating the middle out of a soda can at 10 yards. Consistent shot placement, every time. The trigger pull is ... different. The trigger indexing the magazine takes some getting used to, but the overall pull has about the same weight as the real deal, though it is pretty spongy. It lacks the clean break you would expect.

On the whole I am really impressed with this gun, except for one thing... The safety. Out of the box, it required two handed operation to disengage it, and you had to point the gun in an unsafe direction to do it. After break in, it became possible to operate it left hand only, but there is still a tendency to point the gun in an UNSAFE direction when disengaging the safety. I am concerned this safety could actually CAUSE injuries, unless you are really careful where the gun is pointed when you disengage it.

Pros
VERY accurate! Good power for a blow back pistol Great looking gun; Good copy of the original

Cons
#1 Con: That horrible safety! Lack of detailing in the "ejection port"

Does this gun have a metal slide?

asked Jacob from USA

Is there any place to buy the seal that keeps the air from leaking out. It's between the 12oz tank and the chamber that holds the air before discharge.
