Scott from USAI've had a few air rifles. I was an "expert" rifleman in the USMC. BUT from 20 yards, I have yet to put three shots within three inches of each other!! I just got this rifle two days ago and I've put about 50 rounds thru it. I'm getting very discouraged. It came with a sophisticated scope I've adjusted it like the others I have.....still....all over the target. Any advice?
asked DaleSome more advice. Air rifles can be very pellet - picky. Go on-line, and find out which pellet is popular with your specific rifle. It really matters. Good luck. Fred
fredLook up the "artillery hold" on-line. You don't hold onto a spring-air rifle like a Weatherby High Power. I can ring the bell at over 1000 meters, and I couldn't shoot a good, consistent group for several years. Then I discovered these internet air gun supply stores, saw their videos, and nailed 27 rats in a row with an old Gamo Hunter 220. Gut a trigger up grade for it , and it's actually very accurate. I'm a PCP nut now. FX next!! Airgun Depot has videos. The technique works. You can shoot from a pillow instead of a sand bag. Hold lightly. Good luck.
FredAny tight hold on a heavy recoiling airgun will result in large inconsistent groups. Hold the rifle loosely with your hands and lightly against your shoulder. You will shoot much tighter groups after sighting in with this new and perfectly repeated hold position.
Christopher from USAmake sure you use artillery hold.
gigglehzWhat is the proper way to hold the RWS 359 Magnum?
LarrySuck buying a high dollar rifle and it doesn't work. Have you shot the rifle without the scope ? I have a much cheaper Beeman and I could not hit anything. It was all over the place. I kept adjusting the scope but was high right and not a good pattern. I sent my scope back to Bushnell to have them take a look. They sent me a brand new scope and I shoot at flys from 15 yards. I was ready to destroy the old one. Send it to the manufacturer and have them field test it before shipping it to you. Good luck
john haggari WAS A GUNNEERY SRGT.IN THE USMC. FOR THOSE WHO KNOW i WON'T HAVE TO EXPLAIN FOR THOSE WHO DON'T I WON'T BUT THERE IS A GREAT VIDEO ON SHOOTING SPRINGERS AND AND A TECHNIQUE CALLED THE ARTILLERY HOLD,IT MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD HOW AND WHERE YOU HOLD YOUR WOMAN AND THE SAME CAN BE SAID FOR YOUR (AIR)RIFLE
JOHNYour problem is very common among those of us who are proficient with firearm shooting. " Springers" require a special technique known as the "artillery hold". There are several you tube videos that offer instruction about it. Also, springers can be very pellet "picky"so you may need to experiment with different brands & weights. I'd advise you to try some H&N and JSB domed pellets, those two brands work well in just about every gun. But let me emphasis that shooting technique with a springer is absolutely critical. Good luck!
Douglas from USAI WOULD RECOMEMD A CHARLIE DA TUNA TRIGGER IT SURE HELP TREMENDOUSLY I HAVE THEM ON ALL MY AIR RIFLES. H@N 14.3 GRAIN PELLETS HOPE IT HELPS OUT
BOBAre you holding the air gun properly? I was an expert marksman in the U.S. Army with the M-14. I thought I knew how to shoot well also. A high power springer is the most difficult air rifle to shoot accurately due to hold sensitivity. My first air rifle was a RWS model 48 in .177 caliber. The holding principles are the same. I was disappointed when I first got mine and shot it off of a solid rest at 50 yards. I shot two five shot groups which averaged slightly over three inches center to center. This was before I realized I was holding the rifle improperly. Since your rifle is a break barrel, make sure that the pellet is seated flush with the chamber so that the skirt is not damaged when the barrel is closed. There are some garbage pellets on the market also, usually made in China. You didn't specify the caliber of your rifle or the brand, type and weight of the pellet you used. If .177, I would recommend a pellet from 10-12 grains, no lighter than 8, if in .22 I would recommend from 14-21 grains. RWS, JSB, H&N and Crosman Premier. Good Luck!

This this is a man's rifle, I bought to replace my 22 caliber firearm. It is used for squirrel hunting, Pest Control, and target shooting. I wanted something so that if I misjudged my range a little it would still have the Velocity and energy to hit my Target with authority.
Pros
I picked up the diana 350 mag classic pro in .22 cal about 4 years ago. I have shot more than 3000 rounds thro this rifle. This rifle took some time to get use to. The socalled artillery hold, and finding the pellets it shot the best with. Pop cans at 65 yards dont stand a chance. If i do my part, it will stack pellets into 1 hole at 25 yards. The 350 mag is a hard shooting rifle that takes some time to master. Diana you have a loyal customer, I would buy again. I know that it's not the cheapest Springer on the market, but the quality and fit and finish , and reliability are second to none.
Cons
1. The rifle is heavy, and hard to steady during field use. 2. The rifle is hard to cock. It is unpleasant for my wife to cock, but she can
