what does the bipod weigh?
asked David Mosser View Next
I purchased this bipod to use on my RWS Model 48 (.22 cal). I found the bipod to be too lightweight for this rifle. The mount-to-legs connection is spring loaded; the spring are under sized causing the rifle to flop to one side or the other. One must apply a torsional force to keep the rifle upright; I find this awkward. I installed stiffer springs to mitigate the flop. The leg locks have quite a bit of slop resulting in wobble. The It appeared to me the legs were mounted backwards in that they fold back towards the shooter which blocks the shooter's fore grip. I reversed the legs so they now fold towards the muzzle, now the rifle can be fired with the legs folded. The individual components of the bipod are well made; connections are poorly designed.
Pros
Installs without modification of the rifle. (this is why I bought it) Individual components well made. Easy to modify.
Cons
RWS Model 48 too heavy for this bipod. Bipod (out of the box) does not appreciably improve stability.
