The classic NRA Junior competition rifle! Ideal for shooters 16 and up (with adult supervision) to learn to shoot in 10-meter competition. Daisy's Avanti 853 Legend has a sporter hardwood stock that's capped with a removable buttpad to allow for the included insert spacers to adjust the length of pull for the shooter's size. Most impressive is the crowned Lothar Walther barrel this rifle uses! It's barrel is precision-bored for .177 match pellets, has 12 lands and grooves, and a right-hand twist. The front sight has interchangeable aperture inserts, and the rear sight is micrometer adjustable. The included sling will also help the shooter steady the rifle. The 853 Legend is so accurate that most shooters will not outgrow the rifle's potential. Although official competition rules do not allow scopes, the rifle has a dovetail scope mount in the diecast receiver in the event you want to use this rifle for shooting other targets or just for fun.

Yea , my spring and air-bag guns are powerful but this one accurate . Guess which one is more fun to shoot and gets used more ? (smiley) The 853 is plenty air gun for pest control and keeping my cat with feathers in his mouth , and out to 25 - 30 yards all is one hole groups.

I bought this for my daughter who wanted to get into competitive air rifle. I am amazed at the accuracy and consistency of this gun. It can easily put 20 rounds through a spot the size of a dime at 10 meters (see attached picture - the two outliers were my fault). I can't believe the quality given the low (comparatively speaking) price. I would suggest getting a cleaning rod that fits as it can be a little finicky with pellets that get loaded slightly crooked or that have an imperfection on the skirt. Overall, great gun, would highly recommend for entry level shooter or experienced shooter.

Pros
Accuracy, consistency, value.

Got this for parctice due to price of .22 cal rimfire ammo ( geeze). This is an extremley accurate airgun. Used it at 25 yds. at an outside range. It shot inch groups with various pellets, in a light breeze. I mounted a BSA 2X7 scope and it is great for practice. Trigger is not the greatest and the style is a bit strange ,but, the rifle lacks nothing for accuracy. My spring gun will stay in the cabinet most of the time.

I competed in the Wyoming State 4-H competition for 9 years using this rifle in 4 position light target class, from the time I was 9 to 18, and of those 9 years, there were 3 years I didnt take home the 1st place trophy in my age class, and those three years I was still in the top 5. If you have any knowledge of firearm mechanics, you can adjust this trigger to a crisp 2 lbs, the limit in our competition rules. mine had adjustable butplate spacers that helped the rifle grow with me. I sanded mine down and painted it metal flake blue. At 10 meters on a sandbag, or prone position, I can make 10 shots look like 1 pellet hole with this gun. In light target class, I was consistantly shooting scores in 4 position of 360-380, 10-15 X +, and the rifle is easily capable of shooting a perfect 400, 40 X score. RWS R-10 match shot the best in mine, though the difference in accuracy of different pellets was hard to interperate, as the gun always made a single hole at 10 meters, no matter how many pellets you shot. This is an excellent target rifle, and will be capable of all but precision class shooting, simply because you cannot put on all the accessories you need for precision.

As a former JROTC member and Rifle Team Cdr., we used these for all our range and tournaments.
These are extremely accurate as Charlieboy said, could easily hit the same spot on a target from 33ft (even further with a couple of my tries).

For match. shooting how does this rifle compare to the RWS 75?

asked Allen

I have recently had the opportunity to fire the rws 75 and have been shooting the avanti 853 for 6 years. Both are excellent rifles with very similar performances, but over all I prefer the avanti for it's grip and stock. I prefer a sloped grip against the rws 75's vertical grip and the rws 75's angled butt plate bothered me when firing all but prone. One thing I did notice in the rws 75's favor was there was less overall movement of the rifle when firing, the avanti has a tendency to "twitch" when firing, but can easily be overcome with a little practice. Both are great rifles you cant go wrong with either.
