Gamo's new IGT powerplant replaces the metal spring, giving you the most power with every shot. Coiled metal mainsprings will weaken over time. A gas spring doesn't weaken...no matter how long you leave the gun cocked. If you're a hunter who likes to get set up for the next shot and then wait for a critter to cross your path, then you'll get the most benefit from a gas spring. If you regularly do that with a metal mainspring, your gun is losing some power each time. The new, improved SAT (Smooth Action Trigger) has made those aftermarket replacement triggers obsolete. Now, enjoy a trigger that you can personalize. Adjust it so the pull weight is suited for you, and the length of pull is what you need to hit your target every time. Let's talk about their proprietary Shock Wave Absorber (SWA) recoil pad. There's an entire industry making aftermarket pads to lessen the recoil to the shooter's shoulder. While the gas piston is going to seriously reduce the vibration, the SWA recoil pad will stop you from feeling up to 74% of the recoil. You can shoot hundreds of shots a day and wake up the next morning without a sore shoulder.

i have a gamo bone collector 177 cal. no matter what i did, the scope mount would work their way off the rail. and the recoil broke the scope that came with the gun. so i upgraded to a better scope which was also broke by the recoil of the gun so then i bought UTG 4X32 SCOPE + HEAVY DUTY WEAVER MOUNT ,UTG MAX STRENGTH SCOPE RINGS . after 50 shoots the cross hairs broke. This was the 3rd scope that the gun destroyed i called a well known air rifle store they told me that gamo piston sits bhigh inside the gun and this is why it breaks the scopes aid no-matter what scope he could suggest it would most likely do the same thing again. he suggested that i sell the GAMO and buy another brand. i do have a BENJAMIN 22 ca/. that i shoot alot more the Gamo and never had any problems do not keep wasting money on new scope ALL MOUNTS WERE TIGHT, AND HAD SCOPE STOPS LESSON LEARNED

Pros
TRIGGER PULL

Cons
CAN NOT HOLD A SCOPE AND DOES NOT CAN WITH IRON SIGHTS SO CANT SHOOT IT

In a nutshell: it's a great gun, but I couldn't get the scope dialed in...very frustrating. So, even though there are no open sights, I've been using just the barrel. To take out my frustration, I set the scope box with a rock in the bottom, vertically on a log a 100 yards away. After the second shot, I nailed the box. That alone should say something about the scope. I'm hitting a slim target (scope box) a 100 yards out with no props, but I never could dial in the scope leaning on a fence.....go figure. I did adjust the trigger and apply a little oil. Very smooth. The first shot was very loud, but after a few rounds, the sound came down to just a thump. Not near as loud as initially. I used the bone collector pettlet; dome top; 7.56 gr. If Gamo had put a better scope with this gun, I think they would have hit a grand slam, but instead hit a triple. I'm going to continue to use the open bore with no sights until I get a better scope.

Pros
Very accurate and consistent

Cons
Needs a better scope

Purchased at Walmart and does what I need it to do. After finding pellets that it likes I have taken 5 tree rats from 10-30 yards and a groundhog at 45. I think the scope is a waste, replace immediately with better optic.

Cons
scope

Great rifle, shoots well right out of the box. Easy to operate and hits hard. Using the rifle to eliminate the rat population around the barn. The stored gas propulsion lets us leave the rifle ready to pop a rat any time we see one.

Pros
Stored gas propulsion lets us keep the rifle ready to shoot.

Cons
Lack of iron sights with the scope removed.

Wondering how this air rifle compares to,the Hunter extreme, 1650 fps ? Any comments ? My main purpose will be garment around the house, maybe a shoot or two to scare a bobcat or coyote. Thanks,

asked Grev

In spite of some claims, you can't kill a Bobcat or Coyote with a single shot from break barrel rifle. It's sick & cruel to just wound them. Get a cap gun if you want to scare them. All the FPS figures are bogus & based on a few shot in a lab using PBA pellets which are way too light to be effective, and may damage some springers. Gamo is the worst offender of overstating how quiet a air gun is, or FPS, but all mfg do it except for Hatsan..

desetguns

Who replaced the scope and with what ? New to air rifles and scopes. Thanks

asked Grev

Stock scope kept walking up and right on its own. Screw off wind age knob and noted relative position of adjustment screw face. Screw backed off about 4-6 clicks every shot. Captured this on video. Ordered the BSA 3-9x40 with adjustable objective, item number AR39X40AO with a one piece Accushot 1" high 11mm mount, item number Accushot High Mount, 1" Rings,.... Yet to receive it, but both items received great reviews from others. Hope this helps

Steven from

I did not. Got the stock scope dialed in and started killing rats.

Brian

I do not understand the new IGT Gas Piston, how does it work, how does it charge for the next shot ?

asked Grev

There is a heavy SEALED cylinder with piston filled with nitrogen, when you cock the gun you compress the gas inside the SEALED cylinder..When you pull the trigger the piston releases the cylinder/piston unit and moves forward pushing a plunger that compresses the ambient atmosphere behind the pellet pushing it out of the gun.You pump no air into the gun. You do not have to refill the nitrogen cylinder. Oh and do not use the way ti light pellets or scope that comes wit the gun. get an airgun rated scope {all scopes sold at this site are airgun rated}and use 9 grain or higher weight pellets. A high f.p.s. is NOT your friend.get the fps down to 800 or so accuracy improves

JEFF from USA

It happens when you cock the gun. A chamber inside is filled with air. Once you shoot, the air is like gun powder except without the recoil. to charge fore the next shot you need to cock the gun .

Is the barrel all steel or polymer coated steel?

asked randy

polymer covered rifled steel.

JEFF from USA

What would do better for a kill shot a .177 or .22?

asked Austin

To kill what? Something like a rat doesn't really matter much. What does matter is shot placement and your marksmanship skills. The heavier the pellet, generally the better the penetration. Hollow points are designed to flatten out upon inpact, whereas solid tipped pellets will have greater penetrating power. A .22 may have somewhat less velocity, but with more weight has more kinetic energy, thus greater power to penetrate through bone, wood, etc. As a rule, the bigger the beast, the bigger and heavier the projectile should be to efficiently take it down.

Mike from USA

A 177cal will get there quicker and penetrate further and is less vulnerable to windage as it has less profile, also it has greater distance so i'm a 177 guy

gary brunt

That depends upon your target. The .177 is faster but the .22 carries more of a "punch."

Doc Anchovy

A .22. A larger pellet would mean a lot more force upon impact.
