Hatsan's AT44-10 Tact PCP Air Rifle is one of the few tactical air rifles that's a pellet repeater. Because it's hard for manufacturers to make an accurate repeater, most don't even try. But Hatsan has perfected the process, and their AT44-10 line is proof that you don't have to pay a fortune to get velocity and accuracy. Even better, Hatsan's velocity comes from using lead pellets, not those featherweight alloy pellets that go fast but won't hit the target. When you shoot this air gun, you're not tied to just an air rifle. Take off the buttstock, and you'll have an air pistol version of a Buntline Special. Such versatility makes this air gun a better deal than most other repeaters. While Hatsan hasn't had as much time on the American market as many other airgun brands, they've proven themselves with excellent quality and workmanship. The Hatsan AT44-10 Tact has a 10 shot magazine (9 for .25 caliber) which will give you ltst of shooting time and less reloading time.

NOTE: If you want to scope this gun without having to remove the rear sight- use high mounts and a scope with an objective lens no larger than 32mm.

This model Hatsan AT44-10 is very practical for those who like an air rifle that packs away neatly. It will (with the shoulder stock removed) fit inside a backpack with a portion of the barrel showing. That is with the standard version without the QE moderator. I have a moderator for mine which changes the report from loud to backyard friendly. I installed a Huma regulator set at 150 psi and tuned the hammer spring until I am getting a 10 shot string of 18.13 grain JSB heavies averaging 876 fps, extreme spread of 4 and standard deviation < 1. As for accuracy, I have only been able to shoot at a distance of 17 yards and getting 1 hole groups. I expect it will do well at 50 yards when I go to the range.

Pros
Accurate, price, compact.

Cons
A little heavy as most pcps are. I wish there was a carbon fiber air cylinder available as that is where a lot of the weight is.

Imported by my co member of the Shooters Club last week, we tested this on a cloudy day. The grouping was within 2 inches at 15 meters. The pellets were 7.8 gr. RSW SR 10 Match. Sound is on the higher side but the rifle handled very smoothly. Excellent. The possibiity of QE for sound suppression may be examined by the R & D of the Factory.

Pros
Everything.

Cons
Sound is on the higher side. Perhaps a silencer could be used?

Purchased this rifle , because of the low price. I have to say I was very surprised to see the quality of the product upon arrival. Solid feel , and the power was amazing. First squirrel hunt was successful, after the 20 yard zero, muscle memory took over. ( you ol timers know what I mean) This rifle holds good and straight at 50 to 75 yards, with little complaint. Hatsan makes a quality rifle and I will be purchasing more Hatsan products from Air depot soon.

Pros
Small, compact as you would expect a tactical to be. Makes for good company traversing through dense Forrest. You don't have to chalk your forearms for this small beast.

Cons
Haven't found one yet.

Things I liked:This air-gun is one Mean Machine, It's extremely accurate, and powerful, In fact its so similar performance wise to my AT44 .22 P.A., I'll just mention the differences that really matter, Like the fact it has Swivels, something very rare in the airgun world, and something other manufacturers should take note of, next are the weaver rails placed on the forestock, excellent for attaching laser/flashlight/bi-pod, etc.Optics placement hasn't changed from the Pump Action, You'll still need high mounts, and an objective that will fit over the overly extended magazine, and rear sights, I have an "M8 JGBG 3.5-10X40 I.R./Integrated Laser A.O" on mine and it fits perfectly w/out adding weight, or unbalancing the gun. As far as ammo, I found the 2 most accurate lead pellets for this shooter are H&N Field Target Trophies w/ a head size of 5.55mm, and FX Smooth Twist "Cylindrical" pellets @16gr,. I'm getting 2" groupings in excess of 60 yds. I have found no benefit in using Alloy rounds, In fact Hatsan Does not recommend their use as they may damage the gun.
Things I would have changed:Magazine placement should be more Internal, and the rear sights moved forward, so they don't need to be removed for Full-size scope placement.
What others should know:It's a nice touch, Hatsan including a bi-pod, and sling, But for the money we're paying they should be quality items, Like having padding on the sling, and a bi-pod that's metallic, and has weaver/swivel placement hardware. I highly recommend this a/g, and don't forget to get a spare air cylinder, magazines, and Good Ammo.

Pros
Sling Swivels!

Cons
Padding on the sling,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,There is None!

Since the barrell is threaded is there a noise suppressor available for this gun? I thought I heard or read there was.....And I know the air stabilizer is available but I would like to quiet this rifle down. Thx RB

asked Richard from USA

Get yourself a TKO muzzlebrake,,,,It did wonders for my 3 guns, makes them back-yard friendly(country/rural, NOT city)

Andrzej from

"Suppressors", "Silencers" are usually "dark territory", with all the paper work you require it just isn't worth it, If you want your report lowered a bit, then get a TKO LDC, or a weapon that already has one built in like a Gamo Whisper, BATF doesn't mind because it can't be used on a powderburner w/out self destructing.

Scott from USA

Can I add a suppressor on the rifle? And can I use a high pressure pump to fill it up? Thanks, Harry

asked Wei from USA

Yes, a suppressor will screw on the muzzle after removing the cap that protects the threads. And yes, you can use a high pressure pump or scuba tank with the scuba adapter to fill it.

Robert from USA

Can you fill this with a hand pump? If so what hand pump could you use, and how many strokes does it take to get it up to 3000psi?

asked Landon from USA

I own 2 of Hatsans PCP shooters, the AT44/PA, and the tact1022, both use the same air cylinder, when I first got the gun(AT44/PA), and the Hatsan H/P pump, I tried like crazy to fill there cylinder, and I was about to give it up, and return the whole lot, when I paid a visit to my local paintball shop, and after buying a $5.00 adapter, I can now fill my cylinders at any paintball facility for about $3.00 per fill, sure beats busting a nut w/ the pump, and my advice,,,Get 2 cylinders, I find its more than enough air for a day in the field/range, etc,. Or save up for a used scuba tank, and get roughly 20-30 fills from the tank before you need to refill it, Cheer's, Andy.

Andy

Is there any hand pumps that you can use to fill the air cylinder? If not, how do you fill the air cylinder for this gun?
