The Airmax range is designed specifically for airgun shooters. Airgun shooters, whether hunting, target shooting or plinking, require specialized optical set-ups to get the most out of their rifles. The Hawke Airmax EV range offers the airgunner precision optics packed with great features.

The proven MAP6 reticle assists accuracy by providing parabolic aiming points that fall at exactly the same rate as your pellet. Hawke have done the physics so you don’t have to! Simply adjust the zero range and zoom to calibrate.

Extreme View - See more!
All Airmax scopes include our EV Extreme View optical system which delivers a field of view 20% wider than traditional rifle scopes. Target acquisition speed is increased and continuous viewing is improved.

Designed for Airgunners
Hawke Airmax rifle scopes sport a large glove-grip elevation turret allowing fast range dialing and the mono-tube body provides the extra strength demanded by airguns. All models have Adjustable Objectives enabling you to focus down to airgun ranges.

Built to last
The optical system is held within a 1” mono-tube with a matt black anodized finish. Turrets are a low profile design with ¼ M.O.A per click. The knurling on the turret caps and the zoom ring is a high grip design - the zoom ring also incorporates a thumb bump, ideal when using gloves.

Reticle:

  • MAP 6 Reticle
  • Using an 11.5ft/lb .22 air rifle with the scope set on 6x magnification., zero the center cross at a distance of 30yds.

The MAP 6 reticle features a series of aim points for hold over and hold under and windage. Unlike Mil Dots and most other reticles the aim points are not equally spaced. The spacing is designed to work with the ammunitions trajectory so that the distance the aim points relate to is equal. MAP 6 reticles are equally at home on top of a center fire or an airgun.

As the headline suggests I can favorably compare this scope to VX-4 scopes I have owned in the past that cost more than twice the price for the same features. I chose this model for its brightness/light gathering ability in low light and didn't want to over magnify like some of my selections in the past. I have used 6X18s on .22 LRs and 6x is too much for the frequent short shots IMO.
My scope arrived well boxed and in flawless condition and my only problem was it didn't fit in the suggested 1 piece mount. The 50 mm bell seemed to be the reason as it leaves very little room in front of the turret. 1 1/2" in front and 1 3/4" in back of the turret are the 1" tube mounting areas to work with. I will follow this up in the cons section.
When I received the appropriate mounts/rings and adjusted the dioptor I found the cross-hairs and Map 6 intercept points to be very fine and sharp. The eye relief was noticeably picky for a clear image in the 1/8 to 1/4" range. With a 50yd dead on and using the Hawke Chairgun app the longer range intercepts worked out perfectly for the 60, 70, 80yd ranges at 4.6 magnification. Very handy indeed when matched with my RX2 range finder.
This scope is mounted to a RWS 350 Magnum in .22 and all shooting has/will be done offhand as it is a powerful springer. I tested the combo out to 100 yds and everything in between and the highlight being 90 yd shots at a 8" sauce pan suspended on wires to prevent over penetration clanging consistently due to the Map 6 reference point.
I have hit the 1,000 shot mark now with this combo and have more field experience to back up what I've learned on the range and have decided to re-zero at 40 yds at next opportunity to skim the short/mid range to make easier work at more common ranges with no holdunder to contend with keeping the flight path closer to LOS at inclines. My new plan puts the secondary intercepts at 50, 60 and 70yds at 5.2 magnification, which is far more suitable with my offhand skills.
Money well spent IMHO, I've also read accounts that Hawke has excellent customer service should it become an issue.

Pros
Again, great scope for the price and the Chairgun app works well with the Map6. I've ordered a chronograph to remove my one unknown factor; muzzle velocity. Scope is very bright at 3x magnification with a huge field of view. I'm just as happy as I would've been spending twice the money!

Cons
I can't say these are really cons but must be considered. The eye relief is a very small window, so choose a two piece mount for more mounting options to get the clarity right in your comfortable hold/position. What I did for myself was; 11mm rail to Weaver mount matched with Weaver high rings and I am comfortable with a "heads up" offhand shooting stance. Scope stands 2.5" above bore and no drooper needed in my case, in fact it was near spot on for elevation at the first grouping. Second; I chose 50mm objective for field of view an brightness and this scope delivers both, however the very fine cross hairs do disappear under VERY low light conditions while the image remains bright. I would consider an illuminated reticle version if extremely low light conditions were important.

Just received and mounted on a Gamo Hunter Extreme today. It is a short scope and may be better suited to individual rings as opposed to a one piece base. That being said, it was quick to zero and is fairly bright. Think this is going to be a great scope.

Pros
Very easy to adjust and the adjustable objective is great.

Cons
Nothing so far.

I have a RWS Diana Model 34 that I purchased in 1994. The rifle is in mint condition, 177 cal. , very low use, and has original factory iron sights. I want to scope the weapon. I love the specs and features of this Hawke scope and one piece ring set. I like to be able to shoot many different pellet grain weights and pellet styles. Do you recommend this set up for my Diana? The main application will be target shooting and hunting legal/appropriate small game. Please advise. Thanks.

asked Anthony Cappello

I love the scope, but the one piece mounts wont fit the scope as the large bell interferes with the ring spacing. It is picky for eye relief so a two piece mount will give you more mounting options to better suit your needs.
