I haven't actually sighted it in yet, but I've had 3 other Hawke scopes which have all been great. This scope is replacing a Hawke Sport 2-7x32 which is the perfect scope for low to moderately powered guns. In my case, I was forced to change to high ring mounts for eye alignment on a new rifle which had an exaggerated cheek piece and comb - medium height rings wouldn't have worked. The 32 mm scope looked silly on the high mounts. Although I would have preferred another 2x scope (and a 15-foot AO), this 3-9x50 was as close as I could get (I prefer low magnification) - really looks pro! The turret bulge on the Vantage series is definitely upgraded from the old Sport series.
Pros
Typical Hawke top quality and a great value!
Cons
The Vantage series is not recommended for springers greater than 12 FPE/16 joules, but on a top quality smooth firing gun, there is probably some leeway. FYI: a gun that shoots 7.0 grain .177 pellets at 800 FPS is probably a 12 FPE gun. I wouldn't use one on any inexpensive springer advertised to shoot at 1000 FPS to 1200 FPS - though they all lie!.
Just mounted on a Hatsan AT44 and is very clear, minimalist scope with a nice reticle. I have to admit i only have a hundred or so rounds through it but it's holding zero just fine and has me putting pellet and pellet through the same hole in my targets, as long as i do my part. Very pleased with this scope even though it doesn't have an illuminated reticle.
Pros
Clear glass
good amount of light
good eye relief
holds zero
reticle is clear
good scope for the price!
Cons
No IR
First impression of scopes are that they are amazing. Crystal clear sight. Big objective, and seemingly well built. I bought three of these scopes for my three Benjamin trail xl's, I have one of each caliber. (.177,.22,.25). After about 10 shots on the .177, the firsts scopes crosshairs spun to a 45° angle. Second scope did the same thing in about 20 shots. Third scope, top turret didn't work since new. No elevation change possible. My thought is that these scopes can not take the harsh recoil of magnum airguns such as mine. It's a shame, because they seem so nice. Bought leapers 3-9 x50 scope with no complaints at all. Works great and sighted right in.
Pros
Crystal clear sight., big objective. Good looking scope.
Cons
Can't stand harsh recoil of magnum airguns.
