bought these for my new diana lp 8 mag.pistol. very impressed at 75' . a scope of some kind will make it even better.
Pros
accurate and fast.
Cons
nothing
I bought these for shock value. I have a 1200FPS rifle, and was looking for the KA-POW when they break the sound barrier.
Well, I sure get that.
But something else. There's a lot of talk that a pellet that goes supersonic is unstable.
Apparently not.
I took 20 of them, and shot them in groups of 5. Aiming at the Bullseye they drifted to the right. I fired 5 shots. When I went to look, I had 4 holes.
I went back, aimed to the left, fired 5 shots, and again had 4 holes. And two of those were right up against the one hole that 2 pellets went through
I went out today, and put 2 in almost the same hole in the Bullseye, and I'm using NRA 10-meter targets at 15 meters.
As for the sound...it sounds like a powder .22LR.
A bit pricey, but I got what I paid for.
YMMV
Pros
THEY FLY! Also pretty accurate for a light pellet
Cons
Nothing I can think of
Early on my experience with the hard compounds of the first alloy pellets turned me totally away from those supposed "superior" offerings. Those pellets still are offered today (PBA) and are too hard for the mild steel of airgun barrels, inaccurate in most guns and have ballistic coefficients so poor that by the time they are at the 20 yard mark, the slower lead pellets are going faster! This is not opinion, I extensively did tests measuring these aspects and could not get over how unworthy those expensive alloy pellets were of the claims being made.
The H&N Green line has been put to the test as well. I found them to be of a much softer material, are really very accurate in nearly all of the more than a dozen airguns I have tested them in and the chronograph revealed they have very good ballistic properties and retain the velocity advantage downrange. They are still relatively expensive to lead but at least they deliver the advantage of much greater velocity and are often the most accurate pellet of many tested in a particular gun. Energy wise they can not equal lead so if you are seeking to use them for hunting, you should limit them to small pest species only and would be better served with a lead alternative for squirrels and larger prey in the smaller calibers.
Pros
Exceptionally accurate. Great ballistic coefficient for downrange velocity retention. Soft material will not abrade the rifling in your barrel as some other alloy offerings will.
Cons
Higher cost over lead. Less energy than lead and therefore limited application for hunting.
I purchased these pellets to use mainly for my Sig Sauer Mpx rifle as a substitute for the recommended Sig Sauer Match Ballistic Alloy .177 Cal, 5.25 Grains, Wadcutter, Lead-Free. The lead free pellets are uniform in size and clean, a big plus target shooting at my basement range. I am very pleased with the accuracy at 15 to 20 feet inside. This pellet is rated for precision not distance, but will try them when outdoors. They work excellent in my Bronco Pro, Winchester MP4, Crosman 1077W Repeatair rifles, and Beeman P17, Crosman 1377C, and the Benjamin HB17 pistols. Premium pellet, premium price. If you can purchase a large quantity at one time from Airgun Depot you can rack up the savings (buy three, fourth is free. Free shipping over $179.00 )
Pros
Accurate, uniform in size, weight, and shape, no lead dust
Cons
Lower price and a screw top tin
shot these out of my gamo hunter extreme yesterday. even though they were going a lot faster than the speed of sound, they were very accurate. my neighbors thought i was shooting a .22 firearm!
Pros
accurate and wicked fast
Cons
none
