I bought this rest on impulse, here is what I've found. Not a great hiking stick, not a cane, but it easily slips into moist ground and provides a surprisingly steady, stable platform on both the ratchet rest as well as the crux of the handle. I also turned the ratchet rest 180 and was able to have one shooter prone using the ratchet rest, and another kneeling on the crux.. All in all, An infinitely adjustable and sturdy rest.
