It’s hard to forget your first time. Your first time shooting a really nice airgun that is. For many shooters, Air Arms was their first “high-end” airgun experience. Air Arms has been making high-quality airguns for decades and show no signs of slowing down. In fact, the Air Arms S510T won the prestigious airgun of the year award at the Great British Shooting awards in February of 2023. While many airgun makers chase trends, Air Arms focuses on consistent quality, exquisite craftsmanship, and precision accuracy. Let’s look at some of the best Air Arms airguns you can buy in 2023.
S510 XS Tactical
The Air Arms S510 XS Tactical is one of the newest offerings from Air Arms, combining the tried and true S510 XS action with an AR-style tactical frame. In addition, the MAGPUL edition comes with an AR-compatible grip and an adjustable stock.
The XS Tactical is regulated, suppressed, lightweight, and capable of producing consistent SUB MOA groups at 50 yards. It’s available in .177, .22, and .25 calibers. Air Arms did not try to reinvent the wheel here. The S510 XS is an exceptional airgun. Additionally, Air Arms has made the new Tactical Chassis available as an add-on for current S510 owners.
Ultimate Sporter
Sporting airguns are the bread and butter for Air Arms. The Ultimate Sporter takes all of their decades of airgun knowledge and pours it into one amazing airgun. The action is essentially the same S510 action as in their other guns. However, it’s the stock that sets the Ultimate Sporter apart.
The Air Arms S510 XS US is available in .177. .22, and .25 calibers. There are also three stock choices: laminate, walnut, and black “soft touch.” Each style has its benefits and caveats. The laminate is our personal favorite, as it seems to hold up better if you are taking your Ultimate Sporter out into the field. The Walnut is simply gorgeous but less durable than the laminate and will show marks and bumps more than the laminate. The black soft touch is a wood stock coated in a soft rubbery textured material. It feels nice and looks nice, but it’s the most delicate of the options.
S510 XS TDR
You will see S510 action used extensively across the various Air Arms models. The TDR version is one of the more unique offerings. The S510XS TDR (Take Down Rifle) ships in a custom-fitted case to hold a scoped action, detachable stock, and accessories.
This small rifle is the answer for those who want a compact, powerful, accurate, and durable carbine without going with a bullpup. (For those wanting an Air Arms Bullpup, check out the Air Arms Galahad.) In addition, it’s very light, coming in at only 6.2 pounds. That’s over two pounds lighter than the Ultimate Sporter. But don’t let the diminutive size fool you. It packs the same punch as the full-size S510 XS variants.
TX200 or Pro Sport
We couldn’t do an article about top Air Arms airguns without mentioning the TX200 and Pro Sport. These spring guns are, simply put, works of art. Available in Beech or Walnut stocks, they showcase Air Arms’ ability to create heirloom quality airguns. Just a note, the stocks are not ambidextrous. So if you are a left-handed shooter, select that option when placing your order.
The TX200 and the Pro Sport focus on repeatable accuracy over power. They are both exceptionally accurate and dominate the springer Field Target divisions. They are expensive, but for those looking for the absolute best spring airgun money can buy, they are worth a look.
