Thursday at SHOT 2015 – What’s new at Crosman Corp.

My day started with a quick trip to the Media room to gather the troops to what I knew was going to be a long day 3 here at SHOT 2015. After a short snack and a couple cups of coffee, it was time to head out to our first interview of the day which was with Crosman Corp.

What’s new from Crosman for 2015

Breakbarrels:

It was a pleasure to meet with Chip regarding their new product lines for 2015 starting with the new signature guns from Eva and Jim Shockey. Let’s start with the Golden Eagle which is a .177 built on the NP2 platform. It features a new stock that incorporates embossed insets of Eva’s camo pattern. The rifle has an 11mm rail to mount the bundled Center Point optic and also uses Crosman’s CBT trigger found on the NP2.

Taking a step up, the Steel Eagle is a signature airgun from Jim Shockey that’s also built on the NP2 base platform. The Steel Eagle comes in .22 caliber and has a unique custom stock as well. It features a weaver style scope mount vs the traditional 11mm rail found on the Golden Eagle.

PCP:

The big news, as I’ve already reported on earlier this week, is Crosman’s reentry into the big bore airgun market. Taking the lessons learned from the Rogue, Crosman’s new Bulldog operates with traditional mechanical valving vs fancy electronics. Crosman is promising close to 200 foot pounds and 10 good shots per fill. The bullpup stock and integrated suppressor make it a very unique offering amongst this year’s big bore airguns. It’s something that we are very eager to check out when it becomes available sometime in late February and March.

The other news in the PCP world from Crosman surrounded their Armada. The Armada is essentially a really dressed up Benjamin Marauder. It is soon to come in two versions and at a reduced price point. Time will tell how the pricing works out, but for now, let me tell you about the two versions. The Magpul version comes with true Magpul accessories, bipod, and centerpoint optic. It will sell for a couple of hundred more than the soon to be available standard edition. The standard edition will have adjustable tactical hardware, but it won’t be Magpul. The reduced price point will allow folks to get into a really cool tactical style PCP a greatly reduced price. It’s something that I’m verg interested in as an upgrade to my .22 Marauder Synthetic. You can bet that I’ll be hunting one when they become available.

Pistols:

Lastly I want to talk about something really exciting to me personally. More and more I’m becoming a true airgun hobbyist. I love to think about how to change and upgrade my airguns and there are few airguns that are more customizable than the Crosman 1377 and 1322 pistols. Well, Crosman has updated this great line with a new, vastly improved feel and look for 2015. It’s all external upgrades, but it’s so much nicer than the traditional plastic that we’ve been using for decades. I’m already thinking about my next custom airgun build.
