SHOT SHOW 2015 – Hatsan USA’s New Airguns

I was so excited when I received the prototype Hatsan Big Bore airguns last year. I knew they were on the horizon and to have them show up at my door for the final fine tuning before going to production was a real treat. Now I’ve been working with Hatsan USA for several years and if there’s one thing that I’ve learned is that this company comes with more than one or two bullets in the magazine. SHOT 2015 was no exception.

HatsanUSA’s New for 2015 Airgun Wall

Starting with what I can talk about…

So what’s the big news now that the Carnivores are on the prowl? For me it’s got to be the new additions to the Quiet Energy PCP offerings starting with the AT-P pistol and pistol/carbine. The ATP pistol comes in .177, .22, and .25 and has always had a bit of a bark in the noise department. Adding the quiet energy mechanics to this pistol will create a great alternative for those looking for a powerful and accurate PCP pistol.

ATP Equipped with a new QE Shroud and Suppressor

The ATP-2 is the carbine variant and it has a few changes beyond the addition of a built in barrel shroud and compressor.   Previously the ATP-2 arrived with a very nice molded grip. It was very nice so long you were right handed. The new version of the ATP-2 comes with a fully ambidextrous grip. Having owned an ATP-2 in .25 I know that the platform is really effective.   A bit noisy, but effective. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next generation.

ATP-2 Tactical Carbine – now with QE system and ambidextrous stock

Continuing down the line of new QE PCPs, you’ll find the AT44 Tactical. Now this is one of my all-time favorite PCP airguns for many reasons. The only thing that sets the AT44 Tactical apart from the AT44 is the stock. But, it’s a really nice stock. I love the AT44 platform because it’s very easy to operate. The side lever does not take a lot of force to actuate. In fact my 7 year old daughter can operate this rifle with ease. The next thing, and this is unique to the AT44 Tactical, is the adjustable, ambidextrous stock. It’s really very “M4” like, while not looking like an AR15 / M4 Variant. The pistol grip allows shooters of all shapes and sizes to control the rifle with confidence. And, the adjustable buttstock allows shooters to get the right length of pull in a jiffy. Now with the addition of the Quiet Energy technology to this platform, Hatsan has something really special. This may be the new standard in the one size fits all, backyard friendly, easy to shoot, tack driving, affordable PCPs.

And the QE fun does not stop there…

Here’s where Hatsan threw me a curve ball. I got their catalog a couple of weeks ahead of SHOT and I saw their new line of break barrels that also utilize a fully shrouded barrel and Quiet Energy suppressor technology. The new MOD 87 is the new model and it comes with the Quattro Trigger, Vortex Ram, Fiber Optic Sights, and an Adjustable Cheek Piece. It will be available in .177, .22, and .25 caliber and will feature their signature 1000 FPS power plant.

And now what I can’t talk about…

Let’s just say that there are more goodies coming from Hatsan sometime mid-year. I got to see them… They were locked in a back room for special eyes only. I even got pictures, but then, like bodyguards protecting royalty, all my cards were confiscated and I was escorted from the booth.. Ok.. not really. The guys at Hatsan USA were happy to show me the new ideas but I do have to keep them under my hat for now. Let’s just say that there’s a lot more to come from Hatsan USA.
