In part two of the Morph 3X I’ll take a look at it configured as a long barreled pistol and as a rifle. The ability for this product to transform itself into three unique shooting platforms makes it a one-of-a-kind airgun. Let’s go ahead and get started.
Morph 3x Parts – Ready to go togetherA really long pistol
Converting the standard pistol to the long barreled version is extremely simple. All you need to do is take the barrel segment and screw it into the muzzle of the pistol. This is not simply an aesthetic upgrade, but rather a true barrel extension. Adding this additional length increases the shot velocity up to and over the manufacturer’s claims. With a fresh CO2 cartridge I was able to get 610 FPS and maintain close to 600 FPS as long as I took my time between shots. The velocity starts to decrease through the second magazine.
Creating the “long” Morph 3x PistolFortunately, adding the barrel to the end of the pistol does not increase the weight all that much. Because all the components are extremely lightweight it’s still very manageable. Rather than relying on the non-adjustable open sights, I’m going to mount my Walther PS22 red dot sight. This sight is perfectly suited for this application and mounts perfectly to the top rail on the pistol. It has variable brightness and a large aperture which makes sighting very easy.
Morph 3x “long” with Walther PS22 SightWhile the longer barrel increases shot velocity, it also increases the effect of the long heavy trigger pull. The action of the pistol works by sliding the barrel forward and allowing a BB to align with the port on the CO2 valve. As the shot is completed the barrel moves backwards, seals the BB against the port, and is propelled down the barrel. The added weight and spring tension increases the force necessary to complete the shot cycle. The effect of tiny movements at the receiver are increased dramatically at the end of the muzzle with the long barrel installed. Because it’s so easy to pull or push the shot due to the heavier trigger pull, the length of the barrel causes the shots to spread more than when configured as the standard pistol.
Rifle Mode
The long pistol mode is not terribly practical. Fortunately, the Morph 3X has a third configuration that brings it all together. When configured as a rifle, you are able to easily shoulder and support the morph which alleviates most of that heavy trigger pull.
The conversion process is pretty straightforward. First, you’ll need to remove the back grip CO2 cover and slide on the stock. If you have the long barrel installed, you’ll need to remove it before installing the forestock on the pistol. Before installing the stock, be sure to carefully remove the fiber optic front sight and move it to the front of the forestock assembly. With the forestock completely installed, replace the barrel extension and you should be ready to rock and roll.

This is where the “badness” of the Morph 3X starts to shine. It feels really sturdy despite being so lightweight. Accuracy is dramatically improved up close, and range is increased easily to about 10 yards. This is a tin can, water balloon, paper target, zombie target killing machine. The trigger pull is still pretty hard and long, but it’s mitigated by the rifle configuration. Once pulled tightly into the shoulder and held securely at the forearm, I forgot all about the trigger and just started stacking BBs on the target.

The only real problem that I’ve found with the Morph 3X is that it does nothing to curtail my obsessive addictive behavior! It’s unbelievably fun and easy to shoot, and puts BBs right where you want them to go. I’ve burned through nearly 1000 BBs just on this review alone!
Seriously however, you will eat through CO2 and BBs pretty fast, so be sure to stock up. It’s important to not store the Morph 3X with a CO2 cartridge still installed. It could possibly wear out the seal prematurely. At about 60 to 80 shots per cartridge, it should be pretty easy to use all the CO2 before going back in the gun case.
I’ve had a ball with the Morph 3X. It’s not a match grade 10 meter airgun and it’s not suitable for hunting small game or pest control. But, it was not built for either of those tasks. It’s a fun, all day plinker that’s easy for shooters of all ages to get in some shooting practice and have a good time in the process.
