Gamo USA makes some awesome precision adult airguns, and they’ve been doing so for decades. They continue to push the envelope for power and performance while maintaining their exceptional value and affordability. In this post, we’ll take a look at our top five Gamo air guns.
5. Gamo Swarm Maxxim 10x Gen II
Back in the day, if you wanted a multi-shot airgun, you had to go with really anything but a break barrel. This was unfortunate because break-barrel airguns deliver excellent power and accuracy with minimal effort up-front. The downside is that they were all one pellet at a time. That was until Gamo introduced their SWARM system. The Gamo SWARM magazine system transforms your single shot break barrel into a proper multi-shot repeater fit for the bench or the field.
Their first adaptation of the SWARM system was added to their Maxxim line of airguns. They’ve now upgraded to their GEN II system, and the Gamo Swarm Maxxim 10X Gen II is the most recent iteration and first on our list. This ten-shot repeating airgun delivers maximum power with minimal effort. It comes with a bundled optic, lightweight stock, and a ton of other features. It’s available in .177 and .22 caliber and is one of Gamo’s most affordable and most popular models.
4. Gamo Swarm Magnum 10X Gen II
The next Gamo air rifle on our list is the new Gamo SWARM Magnum 10x Gen II. As with the Maxxim we mentioned above, the Gamo Swarm Magnum incorporates the new Gen II multi-shot SWARM system. It also generates a LOT more power. In .177, the Swarm Magnum can deliver over 21 foot-pounds of energy, and in .22 caliber, that can go up to around 28 foot pounds. And it does so with great stealth, providing you keep your shots subsonic, due to the integrated Whisper suppressor. Additionally, the Gen II Swarm Magnum brings back Gamo’s fully adjustable, micro-click fiber optic sights. It takes a lot to cock the Gamo Magnum, but the results on target, be they paper or pests, are worth the efforts.
3. Gamo PR-776
If you like revolvers, then you are going to love the Gamo PR-776 Pellet Revolver. Many co2 pistol products are designed for steel bbs, but the Gamo PR-776 pushes lead pellets down the 6″ rifled steel barrel with great accuracy. The PR-776 uses 6 “shells” and loads just like a modern firearm. Each shell can be loaded with your pellet of choice and then dropped into the cylinder. The PR-776 even comes with a speedloader, and extra shells are readily available. This is an excellent air revolver from Gamo.
2. Gamo Urban
The Gamo Urban is a PCP perfect for the backyard, but it doesn’t stop there. The Urban is very lightweight, compact, and easy to handle. It’s a PCP airgun, so it needs to be filled before heading out to the bench for some target practice. Unlike other airguns with larger cylinders which make pumping by hand impractical, the Urban’s smaller tank is easy to fill by hand and still delivers a decent shot count.
The .22 caliber Urban is an absolute tack driver as well. Sub 1″ accuracy out to 35+ yards is not a problem for the Urban once you’ve got the right optic and some time behind the trigger. Moreover, it’s extremely affordable. The ten-shot magazine, rear bolt cocking system, and smooth sub 2-pound trigger pull round out the package.
1. Gamo Coyote Whisper Fusion
At the top of our list sits the Gamo Coyote Whisper Fusion hunting rifle. This traditional wood stock airgun not only looks amazing but delivers fantastic results in the field. Pushing over 30 foot-pounds, the Gamo Coyote is ideal for small to medium game and pests. It shares the same magazine, cocking system, and trigger as our Gamo Urban, but it delivers a lot more power, over 50% more to be exact. With more power at the muzzle, that 1″ accuracy can be stretched to 50 yards and beyond, making the Gamo Coyote Whisper a great option for bench shooting at the range, taking small game for the dinner table, or clearing out pests in the field.
