Umarex USA holds the title of the premier importer of replica airguns. They offer fully licensed airguns from Colt, Smith & Wesson, Ruger, Glock, Walther, and many more. In addition, their Legends series focuses on historic firearms that hold an iconic place in the minds of many shooters. This article will look at the top 3 airguns from Umarex’s Legends series.
Umarex Legends Lever Action
Take any wild west TV show or movie, and you will find the good ol’ Lever Action rifle. The precursor to semi-automatic firearms, the lever action gave shooters the ability to very rapidly send lead downrange without taking their eyes off the target.
The Cowboy Lever Action from Umarex delivers on form and function. The Lever Action uses ten individual cartridges loaded with steel bbs fed into the tube under the barrel. When the shooter fires and cycles the action, the cartridge is ejected, and a new cartridge is loaded into the breach. BBs are propelled by twin 12 gram CO2 cartridges stored in the butt of the rifle. The charging tool is built right into the removable buttplate so that you never go without the ability to charge the CO2.
The rifle is comprised of a metal action and faux wood polymer forestock and rear stock. The polymer parts look and feel good. There is a fixed front sight and an adjustable rear sight. The action, hammer, trigger, and overall useability of this great airgun from Umarex make it a pleasure to shoot.
Umarex Legends Semi & Full Auto Submachine Gun
Take a look at any WWII action movie, and you’ll see the Umarex MP40 Submachine gun. This fearsome firearm was a mainstay for the German army, especially in close-quarters combat. Umarex captures this iconic firearm through their all-metal replica.
The MP40 is a select-fire BB rifle powered by twin 12gram CO2 cartridges stored in the magazine. The MP40 magazine takes up to 52 steel bbs and is replaceable. This is very useful given that the MP40 can fire full auto, which will cause the CO2 to cool and become less efficient. Having a 2nd or 3rd mag ready to go means you can swap to a fresh mag and keep shooting without losing muzzle energy.
The MP40 gains realism points from its authentic design, blowback firing action, weight, and feel. It’s a testament to Umarex’s attention to detail and love for firearm replicas.
Umarex Legends Military Replica
If the MP40 was the mainstay for the German Army, then the Umarex M1A1 was the answer on the side of the Allies. The M1A1 chambered the devastating .45 ACP round known for its incredible knockdown power.
The M1A1 uses replaceable magazines that store the two 12gram CO2 cartridges and 30 steel bbs. Shooters can purchase multiple magazines and have them ready to go for quick swaps between sessions. When you take the M1A1 out of the box for the first time, it’s impossible to overlook the realistic weight and feel. The receiver is all metal, and the polymer faux stock elements look and feel great.
The M1A1 is a select-fire weapon meaning that it can run in semi-auto and full-auto modes. On semi-auto, the blowback is crisp and distinct. The full-auto firing cycle is just plain fun. There’s a noticeable “kick” from the heavy blowback action, and the mag dump happens incredibly fast. We’re not sure of the exact cyclic rate, but it’s fast and, more importantly, accurate. The open sights are both fixed but usable.
Like the rest of the Legends in Umarex’s offerings, the M1A1 lives up to its iconic place in firearm history.
