Have had this rifle for awhile now. Bought it from Airgun Depot along with a couple different pellets to try. I got it in .22 caliber so I could use it for hunting turkeys here in California/ As shown, it came with a scope. Not the best in quality but it is usable. The only thing that got me was the ridiculous "creep" in the trigger...In doing some research on it, I found this is a common issue with these rifles. The solution was simple and fairly cheap compared to buying a whole new trigger assembly as some recommended. I ended up putting a bearing in it to smooth out the travel and it made it silky smooth and very crisp. I'm VERY happy with how it turned out and how easy it was to do. I am able to manage fairly tight groups but i am new to air rifles so I am hoping to get better with time and experience. All in all, a great rifle at a very reasonable price! A big THANK YOU to Airgun Depot!!!
Pros
Price and quality
Cons
trigger creep and scope not high quality
The gun in .22 shoots with good power. However the one I got had barrel droop that was beyond the combo scope's elevation adjustment.
This is a great rifle if you get one within spec barrel.
Pros
Lots of power, and easy to cock.
Scope with adjustable objective is a good complement.
Cons
Barrel droop on my copy.
Nice look . Up graded scope is good. Shoots good. After four shoot gun was loud. But still shoots ok.
Pros
Ok.
Cons
Loud.
My first impression of this gun was that it's somewhat of an ugly duckling. A dull black with a molded on recoil pad, not so easy on the eye. Other reviewers have complained about the sharp edges on the plastic stock and mine was no exception. A few minutes with some fine sandpaper cut the molding flash and left an acceptable smooth edge. Cleaning the barrel by simply running a few patches saturated with gun solvent resulted in just a bit of junk and cutting oil, unlike a Crosman NP Venom I cleaned up a few weeks ago which was unbelievable filthy out of the box. They must have forgotten to flush the barrel after cutting the rifling. Also, I put blue loctite on all scope and rail mounting screws to preempt the problem of vibration loosening the mounts and throwing the scope off center. I've not put loctite on the three screws mounting the stock to the action because I haven't experienced any loosening at this time.
My Trail came with the 3x9x40 scope and it zeroed in and held its settings through about 150 Crosman Premier Hollow Points. Though I can't yet comment on the pinpoint accuracy of this gun, I will say that this stuff about needing to fire hundreds of pellets to "break-in" the gun is questionable. I do believe, however, that it will take quite a few rounds for me to figure out this so-called improved trigger. I've fooled with the adjustment screw and can tell you that the stock trigger will never be a great trigger. A long and somewhat jerky initial stage and then, a not quite clean break to fire. All I'm saying is that there's a learning curve figuring out how to optimize the firing technique. And since I'm not an advanced shooter, that may take several hundred rounds to shoot the dime size groups at 25 yards that other reviewers claim.
The Trail is heavy, over nine pounds with scope. If you plan to carry it to the range or out in the woods or fields, get a sling. Mine came with an embroidered Benjamin sling which, although not of the highest quality, is serviceable.
The cocking effort is acceptable. I'm 72 and cock it without a porblem. Here again, there's a learning curve to figure out the best technique.
You'll need a pellet pen for hunting. Few things are more frustrating than getting a chance at a second or third shot on a fidgety squirrel and then sqaunder it fumbling with loose pellets.
Pros
Got a good deal on gun, scope and pellet pen at Airgundepot.com. I think it will be a very accurate gun when I have time to spend on fine tuning the scope and my technique. It hits hard and the sling is a life saver. You won't believe how much easier it is to carry this heavy gun strapped on your back rather than lugging it loose in your hands. It's not what I would call loud, but it's certainly not silent.
Cons
Gun is heavy and there are some quality control issues with sharp edges on stock. This is the new and improved trigger but it's certainly not a great trigger. I haven't read of any hacks that owners could do to improve the length of pull, smoothness nor break other than replace stock trigger with the Charlie Tuna trigger. Surprisingly for me, not having shot a springer or gas piston gun prior, it gives you a pretty solid kick, so different from my old Benjamin 342 pump.
While it will take much longer for me to completely evaluate, the package appears to be an excellent value and the rifle is of excellent quality.
After doing a lot of research on Air rifles I decided to go with this package... I was constantly reading that the stock optics was "junk", that why I went ahead and spent the money to get this up grade.... I am not going to lie. The scope was a pain in the arse to get sighted in, but after talking to some more advanced air gun guys on FB the gun shoots like a dream... I am making quarter size groups... this was my first air rifle and now I am looking at PCP... becareful.. these guns are addictive!
Pros
Exceptional value... great scope and a wonderful gun to have and shoot.
Cons
They are heavy...
AirgunDepot failed to send an invoice with my order for Mfg Rebate I was wanting to use, When I called customer service the man told me they did not send invoices with their orders. After trying to reach online customer service that didn't work I called couple days later and had them e-mail me a invoice which had no header AirgunDepot anywhere on it. It had Proforma Invoice number?
After several tries to adjust the scope to target holes it will not adjust far enough to the left to where the pellets are hitting the target. Either the scope UPGRADED SCOPE is defective or the scope rail mount on the rifle is not installed straight with the barrel. Overall I am unhappy with my purchase with AirgunDepot and Benjamin Mfg. By the way AirgunDepot now has the same Combo Package $10 cheaper than I paid two weeks ago.
Pros
I really can not think of any except the NP2 is better than a spring thing rifle.
Cons
Unable to sight in scope due to left adjust will not go far enough to match pellet holes in target. The rifle sling shoulder pad is not high enough on the strap to position the pad on your shoulder.
I've had the NP2 in .22 cal. for not quite 1 year . I've shot about ten different pellets through it . Plus it took about 300 to 500 rounds to start to group tight. I found the best pellet for my NP2 are crosman ultra mags. domed. 1/2" groups at 40 yrds 3/4" groups at 50 yrds.. On a real still day 11/4" groups at 90 yrds. I took the scope that came with it and junked it and went with a UTG 4+16 with the tap to change the colors of the X hairs. I don't think you could beat that .. I've shot about 3000 + rounds and love to shot it . I compare it to my Browning boss shooting 90 gr hpbt at 100 yrds putting 5 shots in 1 hole. AAAAAASUME...
Pros
One of the best rifles I ever bought. Can't beat the price..
Cons
little heavy. for the old man of 75 years Frank Gaines Pa.
Question?
Login to ask someone who bought this product. How quiet is the .177 cal? The videos I've seen mostly seem to show it shooting supersonic speed. So it has a pretty good crack to the sound. Is it possible to get a heavy enough pellet to keep the speed subsonic?

Shot really great out of the box and settled in after 200 rounds to be a real tack driver. The trigger smoothed out also. Love the 3x9x40 AO scope.
Pros
Great accuracy and power. Cheap to operate.
Cons
trigger needs a little work but has smoothed out tremendously after 200 rounds.
