I bought this pistol to learn to shoot and practice for the real thing. This pistol looks and feels like a real gun in every way. The only thing missing is the bang! I do all of my dry fire practice with this gun as well. The power, accuracy and feel are all excellent. The double action trigger is quite long and a bit heavy, but very smooth. The single action also feels nice but still heavy. (my makeshift test was around 9 lbs). This however really forces one to use proper trigger control. I'm getting around 50 shots per CO2. The only thing I don't love is the rear sight, which has a pretty wide notch since I prefer something more narrow. Overall this is a quality gun that is really fun to shoot.
Pros
- Power
- Quality
Cons
- Rear sight notch is much wider than the front sight
This is a fun gun...one of the better trigger pulls for a double action handgun. Very accurate and the Competition barrel provides more accuracy and FPS. I average around 450 FPS with a 7.1 grain pellet. I added a scope and did a bit of custom work to the finish and the standard sights. The wood grips are a bit expensive and the black ones work just fine.
Pros
Quality.....German made by Umarex
Cons
None
This was one of the nicest presents to myself (OH! You shouldn't have!!)
The finish on the wood grips, and the precision of the parts (4.5 stars) is pretty good. Feels and weighs like a real gun.
There is plenty of power and decent accuracy potential. The trigger is short and crisp in single action, and smooth feeling in double action. The sights are basic like a 1911. The rear sight doesn't have elevation- only right/left windage and a very small set-screw, but fortunately, mine shoots pretty straight at 100 feet. Pellets lodge far into new wood 2x4s. You'll get about 5 or 6 clips (40-48 shots) before the power drops off. The Co2 changing lever mechanism inside the grip is pretty nice and smooth-operating with a positive engaging feel when the Co2 is in there and good to go.
Very happy with this gun!
Pros
It's all good! Even has a carrying case!
Cons
I wish the barrel extender piece that says "competition" visually lined up with the line of the slide, and looked a little less like it was a foreign added-on piece.... but that's just a dumb aesthetic observation of mine that is next-to-nothing anyways.
FEELS LIKE THE REAL GUN
I was looking for a High- End pellet pistol, and there were about three that really spoke to me. This was one of them. I chose this gun because it looked like a fine Walther product. I was right. This gun is so true to the original Walther P88 Champion, I could hardly tell the difference. The walnut wood grips are so beautiful with this gun, and adds a nice roughness to the feel Let me tell you something about this gun... it's heavy! You feel as if you are wielding a real firearm! The CP88 has a rifled barrel and adjustable back sights and has superior accuracy compared to say a Colt 1911 or a Beretta 92 (this is only my opinion). It packs a punch, and the greatest thing about the shooting of this gun (apart from the accuracy and power) is the amount of GOOD shots I can get from one Co2 canister, as I get approximately 90 shots. The cons of this gun are but a mere shadow of the pros, but this is not to say that there aren't a few. The first time I shot the CP88, it was almost impossible to know when the Co2 was running dry. A pellet got stuck half-way between by (absolutely gorgeous) rifled barrel. This was easily fixed though, as you can fully field strip this gun! This gun is the most deadly of my arsenal, and I wouldn't change a thing about it!
Pros
Superior Accuracy
Good power
Rifled Barrel
Great Amount Of Shot From One Co2
Back Sights Adjustable For Windage
Wood Grips
Black Hard Case
Weighty Feel
Amazing Craftsmanship
Cons
Hard To Tell When Low On Co2
Verry good I shoot it every day. I have since orderted another Walther long gun.
Umarex makes high quality airgun reproductions and this one (Walther CP-88CBW-6) is no exception. Weight and feel are nearly identical to the original and functions in both single and double action with an 8-shot clip. I especially like the easy trigger pull of the single action. Even with my ageing eyes (over 60), I have been putting together 7/8" to 1 1/8" 8-shot (1 clip) groups at 10 m. You can expect to get 60 to 70 shots per CO2 cartridge. I am very pleased with this fine air pistol, a lot of fun to shoot.
If you buy one you will also want to buy 6 extra 8-shot clips (it comes with 2 clips). Additionally, a Crosman Diabolo Speedloader which loads 7 clips in a minute or less is highly recommended as you will be shooting this pistol often, it is hard to put down.
very accurate. Well made with full metal.worth the money!
