Use your Crosman Phantom NP air rifle to humanely eliminate pest birds, rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, nutria, rats, mice and other small critters at close distances. While many rifles don't come with open sights, this one does. That gives you options you won't get from many other manufacturers. In fact, when you add the open sights to the dependability of the gas-piston powerplant, buying this gun is really a no-brainer!

I have had this Phantom for 3 years, no problems with gun. The scope, junk very blurry, no quality control. I have another Center Point that came on a Crosman MTR77 and it is good. Takes at least 250 rounds to get it broken in. It is very deadly and I hunt tree rats with it often. Very nice for the price!

Pros
Durable synthetic stock, rubber butt pad. Open sights function properly. Weight is evenly distributed.

Cons
No sling mounts, scope was junk. Made in china...

Overall the gun seams to be pretty good, solid construction, should last a good long time. I have just begun using it and have only fired about 25 rounds so far. I am currently using the open sites and have not installed the scope at this time. I selected a gun that came with both open sites and a scope because I have read that the included scopes are pretty weak units and tend to fail with use. I also selected a nitro piston version for a quieter unit and it is quieter than my old spring piston gun that finally failed after 15 yrs. The open sites were so far out of alignment that 95% of my shooting has been to zero them in, which has been completed. Thank goodness I have a gun rest.

Pros
The gun arrived with the expected optional scope and overall seems to be a solid contender. The energy delivered to the target is substantially greater than my previous .177. I was seriously impressed with that difference. It is quieter and that is supposed to get even better in time. This "dog will hunt!" First squirrel dropped like a door.

Cons
The fiber optic adjustable rear site seems to be pretty flimsy. It did adjust, see above, but concerned about longevity. It takes both arms to cock the gun with the stock solidly braced. I mean a lot of strength. I doubt your average 14 yr old could do it. That alone takes the fun out of shooting it. Certainly not going to be taking lots of shots at one sitting. Good for hunting not so good for plinking. Hopefully that will improve after "250 break-in shots". If you don't have good upper body strength this gun isn't for you.

I've only used the gun 'for real' one time so I don't know how it will hold up with more frequent use - that's why 4 stars instead of 5. I got it to get rid of possums and raccoons that wanted to move onto my front porch - and so far it's one shot, one 'coon. I haven't even sighted in the gun with the built in sights, but the raccoon was so close I could miss it, and it killed the pest with one shot.

Pros
powerful, seems accurate, easy to use

Cons
cocking a little stiffer than I expected, but that could just be my faulty expectation

Delivery of this product was excellent. Mounting the scope was relatively easy and it seems secure in the mounts. I am a bit nervous about ther front scope ring coming loose. The clamp on the ring doesn't have the positive locator or positioning hole in the barrel like the back ring mount. Time will tell!

Then gun itself is great but the only downside to me is the loose fiber optics. The front is OK but the rest tend to rise and kinda veer off to the side sometimes.
