The FX Independence features an on-board self-contained compression pump system, making it a fully independent PCP (pre-charged pneumatic) air rifle?.hence the name. Being one of the most dynamic innovations on an air gun to be developed, the charging unit allows the gun to be filled in the field by hand without the need for a separate hand pump or air cylinder. Like every other PCP, the Independence can also be filled via standard methods (e.g., carbon fiber tank, compressor, and high-pressure hand pump). The user friendliness of the Independence is second to none. Begin with completely filling the rifle with the on-board hand pump or with an external source via the male foster quick disconnect fitting, then you're ready to fire! Depending on the caliber, one can expect anywhere from 2 to 10 full powered shots. Then simply use the integrated compression hand pump to bring the tank back to full capacity (approx. 15-18 pumps). Before you ask-no, the hand pump isn't overly difficult. The FX Independence is extremely versatile and makes for a perfect air rifle for those who want to go in to the field but don't want to carry extra outboard tanks. Also, this is the perfect pest control rifle to have at the ready, as you won't have to worry about having to fumble with an external filling device and it provides multiple follow-up shots.
