Tuning to Perfection

FX has set the bar for adjustability in airguns. The Impact, the Crown, and now the Dreamline are the most user-adjustable guns on the market. A turn of a dial adjusts the hammer spring tension with ease. An externally adjustable regulator makes it even easier to tune the weapon. With a focus on precision and speed, even fine-tuning the valve itself is done in seconds. If you want adjustability, then these are the ultimate airguns for your need. A Barrel Unlike Anything Before

Now for the most famous innovation of FX airguns, the Smooth Twist and Smooth Twist X barrels. Designed by Ben Taylor and FX owner, Fredrik Axelsson, the Smooth Twist barrel is a polished smooth bore for most of its length with rifling in the last two inches only. This rifling is impressed from the outside, which preserves the smooth polish of the barrel and imparts twist to the pellet but without the sharp indentations typical of traditional rifling. The polished pellet edges resulting from the Smooth Twist barrel increase the ballistic coefficient of the pellet. It retains energy farther and bucks the wind better. The Smooth Twist barrel also imparts a slower twist rate to the pellet than traditionally-rifled barrels, and whether it is because of greater pellet tractability, less spin drift, or the kiss of an angel, the results are proven match-winning accuracy. Since their inception, Smooth Twist barrels have won so many competitions that naysayers have disappeared, and they have quickly become the most desirable barrels worldwide for competitions ranging from Field Target to Extreme Benchrest. The best shooters know they need an edge. The Smooth Twist barrel is the edge. One of the best things about FX Airguns is that they never stop innovating. The Smooth Twist X barrel released with the FX Crown has rocked the airgun world. Actually, a barrel liner inserted into the barrel, the Smooth Twist X system lets shooters do what they have never done before which is change twist rates, match pellets to barrel liners and shoot an unthinkable range of ammunition from a single gun. Airgunning will never be the same. Like the original Smooth Twist barrel, the Smooth Twist X has the rifling impressed from the outside. This maintains the mirror polish on the inside of the barrel, eliminating fliers and ensuring consistency over thousands of shots, but instead of being rifled near the muzzle only, the rifling extends the full length of the barrel liner. At the time of this article, Smooth Twist X barrel liners cost only $99, making them not only incredibly exciting but affordable too. This is the greatest innovation in airguns since, well, the Smooth Twist barrel! FX has made it extremely easy to change the caliber of both the Impact and the Crown. Whether with a Smooth Twist or Smooth Twist X barrel, all you need is a barrel kit which includes the probe, the barrel, and the shroud. Now you can switch from .117 caliber to .30 caliber in only a minute or two, and the adjustments on the gun let you tune it perfectly for each! This range of possibility and this level of convenience and adjustability has never been seen before.

More Shots Per Fill

In addition to power, accuracy and reliability, FX airguns have some of the highest shot counts available in any airguns. This is due to the extreme precision and reliability of the valving, the elimination of hammer bounce, internal regulators, and the large air reservoirs of most FX airguns. From a .22 caliber gun with an air cylinder, like the Wildcat and Dreamline, you can expect around 60-75 full-power shots. A bottle gun like the Impact, Royale, or Crown will get you about twice that. Most FX airguns come with a pressure gauge so you can monitor the air reservoir. Some, like the Impact and the Crown, have an additional gauge for the regulator! And some FX guns have a removable air reservoir so you can carry a spare with you to the field or the range.
