I called Airgun Depot to request a return, and to my surprise, after I explained the problems, I was asked if I wanted a replacement, or a full refund. I took the refund. They sent me a label vie E-mail. Just had to pack it up in the original box, and the shipping was paid for by Airgun Depot. So I didn't like the rifle, but I was very happy with customer service at Airgun Depot. Very professional, and very easy to talk to. I would not hesitate to purchase another air gun from them at all; in fact I probably will be in the near future.
Pros
Things I liked: Price, Stock, Metal work was not that of German Air Rifles, but considering the price, understandable. I almost could have lived with this except: See comments below.
Cons
Things I would change: The entire Rifle! Here's why: first- The over hyped Quadrro Trigger was atrocious! 6.5-7 lbs. trigger pull out of the box. No amount of adjusting the adjustable trigger would get it down to 2-2.5 lbs. without a trigger job. second- The breech seal was chewed a bit at 6 o'clock due to a sharp protrusion coming out of the air orifice. looks like there's some kind of insert screwed in there. I'm sure it could have been fixed, but the barrel would have to be remove to get at it. third- The barrel looked to be rifled it's entire length, but when I pushed a pellet through the barrel, did nit meet any resistance until about 1-2 inches from the muzzle; which means the only contact on the pellet was at the choke, and that does not contribute to any sort of accuracy whatsoever.
Pros
Nice wood; nice trigger; good power.
Cons
Too heavy by 2 pounds; cheap scope not necessary
Its much louder than I expected . I like everything else other than that.
Pros
Well made! Really like the real wood stock!
Great guns
Pros
I have 2 of these a 22 cal and a 25 cal. Both are tack drivers .I hunt with both they are killers on small game .have shot a couple of coons one shot to head does it. I like the triggers can adjust . I like wood stocks .Great guns .I am going to get a 177 .I like the spring mods. The vortex is subject to failure of cylinder. Springs are there ready when you are.
Cons
The scope in package is trash. They can't take recoils of these rifles
I use hammers they work fine on these rifles.
Pros
Powerful
Cons
Hard to cock and too loud Would like to return for a multi shot with suppresser and scope rail
Buy one. Have Hatsan repair anything that goes wrong. You will love it.
It's a better value than any other rifle in its price range. You just don't know what you get until you open the box and shoot it 500 times. Problems are common. But once those problems are addressed these are excellent air rifles. I have had many. Every one had issues. But they all served me well and could consistently hit a shotgun shell at 50 yards. For plinking and shooting practice you could not get a better rifle.
Pros
Excellent design. Good value. Good accuracy.
Cons
These rifles are a paradox. The quality control is iffy. They are great rifles but you have to be willing to use the warranty. Airgun Depot and Hatsan have good service and will fix or replace. I have had 7 hatsan 95 rifles over the past 5 years and have had trouble with all of them. On the flip side every one has been repaired or replaced and they have been great shooters. They are a great value but don't expect perfection. To be fair I have several high end sprinters that have had issues too. I like the Hatsan 95 platform and will continue to shoot them. I highly reccommend the rifle. Please do not expect 10,000 trouble free shots out of the box. Once you get them sorted out they shoot great and are a real value.
BUY THIS RIFLE IF YOU WANT QUALITY " YOU DEFINITELY GET MORE THAN YOUR MONEY'S WORTH !!
Pros
This rifle is awesome !! Very accurate, I have been using it for rodent control and I can drop a rodent dead at 50 yards with the iron sights !! Definitely powerful and the Turkish walnut stock is beautiful !! I would recommend this rifle to anyone who wants a great quality rifle at a great price .
Cons
The scope that comes with the rifle is GARBAGE !!! the eye relief is awful and the reticle is also GARBAGE !!! I DON'T know why HatsanUSA puts the scope stop on the rifle because that's why the eye relief is really bad " .
The scope mounts are to low to use the iron sights " that's useless.
I have 2 of these rifles that I shoot offhand. I shoot over 50k shots per year through them. I have worn out a closet full in the past four years. They are great guns for the money you spend.
The target in the photo is a plastic kids toy shot at 25 yards with the Hatsan 95 in 22 cal.
I have several high end sprinrers with much better quality and finish. They will hold much better patterns than the Hatsan rifles. They have a longer lifespan than the Hatsan rifles. But they cost 4x as much. They wear out too. So I have a couple Hatsans that do most of the work.
You get everything you pay for with the Hatsan. It is accurate enough to hit shotgun shells at 35 yards and beer cans at 70. A gallon paint can at 100 yards is no problem.
If you are shooting tiny patterns on paper you probably need a better rifle. But if you are plinking targets like shillouettes or cans the Hatsan 95 is all you need.
Pros
This is a solid rifle that is capable of good accuracy. The warranty is good and customer service from Airgun Depot and Hatsan are outstanding.
The design of the rifle is excellent. The trigger is good and can easily be made better.
Cons
The rifle is an excellent value but there can be quality issues with these guns. I have had 6 of these rifles so far and all (sooner or later) have had some issues. They were fixed or replaced promptly and I have been happy with every rifle. Just don't expect 100% trouble free operation for 10k shots a year.
I love this gun! This is my first modern day air rifle (in .22 cal) , and these new guns are NOT what we had as kids! Compared to what I had as a kid (Crossman 870 pump I think?), the first shot blew me away. This gun has some POWER to it! The kick was much more than I expected- after 50 shots straight, my shoulder was aching a bit.
I opted to upgrade the scope to a Mantis 3-9x40 that AGD had on sale for $59 bucks and I love it.
You'll definitely want to clean the barrel out of the box. Mine had some debris, but make sure you put a straw from your local fast food joint in the end of the barrel, or your patch will absolutely get caught in the muzzle. At first I was frustrated with my grouping but part of that was me- you'll definitely need to hold the stock firmly against your shoulder. And then I viewed a YouTube video on polishing the barrel with several mops and J-B and Flitz metal polish and WOW! I'm now putting a quarter to .50 cent piece grouping at 50 yards. Great first new airg
Pros
Beautiful Walnut stock, included scope and rings, the power. Get one!
Cons
Wish it included a maintenance manual and a parts list such as the breech o-ring size which I'm sure I'll have to replace eventually
Question?
Login to ask someone who bought this product..177 or .25? Buying a refurb directly from Hatsan. I have a ton of 22s and several 25s. Just wondering if this gun is too powerful for 177. Thanks for your advice. Gun would be used for plinking, target practice, and very small game like squirrels and rabbits on occasion.
asked Mike from USAIs this a good gun for tan squirrels in Illinois
asked Michael from USAIn .177 yes, or the .22 and .25 can be shipped to an FFL dealer.
Adam from USAloud
asked Jeffrey from USAWhat the recommended pellet or brand of pellet for the .25 cal Hatsan Mod 95?
asked Karim from USAWhat is the best pellet to use to bring down Sm varmint and birds?
asked Johnwhat ever your gun likes. be careful with heavier pellets when shooting birds that are elevated. the heavy pellets in .22 can really hurt someone. the mod. 95 can really push the heavier stuff!
Dennis from USAHow is it powered? CO2, air pump, hand pump?
asked Albert from USAspring loaded piston inside a cylinder
Dennis from USAHow quiet is this rifle for backyard varmint shooting? I've got close neighbors.
asked PJyou will have to ask your neighbors. they won't hang you without a trial. my neighbors said it was pretty loud so i started shooting from inside the garage to a target outside which helped muffle the report. it got me a sixpack of mill. lite instead of a hangman's noose. lol
Dennis from USAI bought this gun in early '17. Just took it out to sight it in. I used Exact Jumbo 15.89 gr ammo. At 25 yds. shots were everywhere. As close as I could come on scope adjustment at 25 yds shots were about 5" off (up, down or sideways). Switched to 15 yds and as tight as I could get was about 3" . This is with the rifle on a solid bench rest device. I had the scope on tight using medium thread locker. Scope rings tight. I'm disappointed in this performance. I'm going to try some H&M Sport Wadcutter to see if it tightens up my groups. Any other thoughts or ideas?
asked Gary M Carlsonsounds like a scope problem. are your mounts backed up against the stop on the receiver. are you sure the scope is not sliding thru the mounts. 20 to 50 shots will move the scope backwards a tiny bit at a time. my 95 ate 2 cheap chinese scopes before i settled on a hawke 3-9x50 ir ao. you must start with a spotless barrel and check for lead deposits on the patch. the front foreend screws are part of the SAS system. the small center screw on the left keeps the large screw from turning on the right screw( it screws into the left screw..male female if you know what i mean). be very careful with the left center screw 'cause it's very soft. it keeps the left large female screw from turning off the right side large male screw. this screw setup holds the phenolic plastic insert in place jn a steel ring welded on the bottom of the chamber. play with the tension of the trigger guard mount screw also. shoot 5 shot groups and clean the barrel with a wet patch after every 4 groups. you'll be surprised!! mine loves h&n 14,66 gr pills. tune the screws and get a good scope. like i said my 95 ate 2 cheap scopes. you should not have to torque down the ring caps. be very careful with the front( SAS) screws...1/8th turn on both sides. then lock down the rear screw and back off 1/4 turn. there is a combination that will suit most pellet weights. torque down the scope rails but never the caps. it's not all that complicated. but your gun is trying to tell you something..good luck Gary p.s. i use a benchrest hold also with the front screws always in the same spot on the bag
Dennis from USAWhat is the muzzle energy?
asked john shollThe owners manual says the gun should be oiled regularly, but doesn't what where or how. Is there something online that shows how to maintain this gun?
asked Roni talked to a hatsan stateside mechanic who said never oil the inside of the compression cylinder and only VERY sparingly on the spring (like 2 small drops) and 1 small drop on either side of the barrel hinge and 2 small drops at the cocking arm hinge point and a dab of lithium grease on face of the spring loaded barrel latch.
Dennis from USAjust bought one of these and was wondering what pellets shoot best with this gun because I can only find .25 cal online.
asked nick from USAThe H&N field target trophies are our choice for now. This has been a great pellet, my son and I are happy with them. This is a great gun!
Michael from USAwhats the recoil of this gun? is it a good starter gun?
asked cyes
john from USAyes
john from USAyes
john from USAI have been shooting BB/pellet guns since the age of 9, I am now 53 and this is no starter gun. It has about three times the recoil of the old spring air action Red Ryder of the 1960's and early 70's. When the pneumatic air system Red Ryder came out in the 70's the recoil increased to what it is today, about 1/2 of what the Hanson produces. This gun in my opinion is much to powerful as a starter gun for an adolescent shooter. The action alone to cock the break barrel requires some strength that a younger shooter may not yet possess. This gun comes with a scope for a reason. This gun can hit a target very hard 100 yards away. As a young shooter I considered myself very responsible, but accidents can happen. I am very thankful I learned to shoot with a low power BB gun There are many other lower power guns from "AIRGUNDEPOT" that would be suitable as a starter gun. As a comparable in the BB world---The Hatsan 95 compared to the Daisey pump would be like a larger caliber rifle maybe a 30/30 or even a 9mm rifle, compared to a single shot 22 long rifle. For a step up gun (after the BB shooter proves them self with the weaker BB gun a couple of years), the stronger Hatsan Model 95 would be a great gun before the step up to the single shot 22 long rifle.
Doug Smithis this pellet or both i want to shoot blackbirds in back yard pref pellets only what kind? is there a neg on rifle? rich
asked richard kerriganditto on the heavy side but i added sling swivels. mine too is very accurate with rws 14.5 also with h&n 17.13 silver points (the rabbit exacutioner). i don't have to worry about putting a 14.5 in his ear when using 17.13 pellet (THE THUD MISSILE LOL)
Dennis from USAthe rifle is a pellet only, 22 cal., if sighted in, a blackbird won't know what hit him
Randall from USAI enjoy the 22 cal Hansan Model 95 pellet rifle a great deal. So far I have not gone through many pellets to see which ones shoot better. I purchased an assortment from benjamin with four different kinds of pellets. So far the 14.3gr Pointed Expanding pellet works nice. At 20 yards I can shoot well within a quarter and dime size more than you would think. No fancy shooting rest just a towel and a couple of boards. Oh you will have no problems taking out black birds. I have taken large crows with both body and head shots. Any small to mid size game with a good shot should be no problem.
Mark from USAI bought this for my son for the purpose of plinking and for pest control including blackbirds. This rifle has met all of our expectations! It's powerful and accurate after taking the time to sight in the scope. Very happy with this rifle. The only negative that my son would give it is that it's a little on the heavy side.
LouWhat is the point blank decibel rating?
asked Mike from USAMy meter reads 95
Markcan you remove the front site without damage.
asked Beverly from USAFrom my understanding no.
Mike from USATo answer my own question NO the front site cannot be remove it is molded to the barrel. the barrel is notched and splined in three places and then there is a set screw. I n another review someone said the site was twisted I can assure you this is not possible. I did remove it with an ax and a chainsaw took most of a day. I covered the mess with a thin walled piece of pipe I am very happy with how it came out. What I really want is a bull barrel but if the gun dosent come with open sites they put some stupid knob on the end of it.so Im back to removing sites and living with all the screw holes. The Hatsan is built like a brick house I only wish they made cars
Beverly from USAIs this a loud gun? I dont mind a little loud but I dont want it to be too noticeable.
asked Scott from USAI was concerned at the noise as well but while it does make a pop it can't be heard from more than 50 yards away.
Paul from USAIs the scope as bad as all the reviews claim? Just ordered this for my nephew in Jupiter! Handy having a gun shop in the USA that accepts Paypal!
asked Mary from USAno
john from USAWhy did they not mount this action on a sledge like RWS' 54 deluxe and render it recoilless?
asked normPretty simple answer! Cost! The gun would be double to triple the price if they did that! Also it would weigh a pound or two more. You get more than you pay for as it is with this gun.
DavidHow does this gun do in the world of small game hunting?
asked Tylerabsolutely great
john from USAThe Hatsan Model 95 does great in Small Game situations. The .25 caliber will definitely kill a squirrel or a pest bird. With the .25 caliber you may even be able to go up to medium sized game. I know for sure .17 caliber cannot do that. So I recommend this for small-medium game. It worked great for me.
PatrickWhat 22cal pellets perform best in the Hatsan 95?
asked daveRWS Super dome, Superpoint, and Super H-point are awesome pellet with any pellet rifle.
Scott from USADoes this gn have a weaver/picatinny rail mount? The one here doesnt but evrywhere else does
asked DanielAccording to the other guys who answered, dovetail not weaver.
Capt ObviousIt has a dovetail, but you can get a intermount that you can put weaver mounts on.
Conorno, i bought one from Airgun Depot and this gun does not have a weaver rail, it has dovetail rails.
Brian from USA
I'm not impressed with the scope that came with mine " it's junk!! I'm using iron sights and my rifle is a tack driver. The walnut stock is beautiful for the money and I've not seen a nicer walnut stock on rifles costing twice as much. I don't and wouldn't recommend deiseling ammo through this rifle " the pressure is extreme and it's not designed for it " for the minimal FPS you'll get which isn't much opposed to the accuracy which is actually less because of the increased recoil, it's just not worth it !! It's an awesome rifle and if it's taken care of it's going to last for decades !!
Pros
Everything !! This rifle in .177.cal is Extremely accurate !! I've fired 5 major brands of pellets through it and it's accurate with all of them " it does prefer the Apolo brand Magnum 8.48gr Pellet " I'm dropping rodents dead in their tracks " I dropped a squirrel at approximately 125 ft with this Pellet.
Cons
The scope rail isn't the best design I've ever seen " it works but some type of scope lock down would be awesome.
