A simple, no-nonsense performer with great balance and finish that has stood the test of time. Not particularly hold sensitive; it prefers an offhand rest but will still deliver with a casual grip. Trigger hand can be very loose or even somewhat tight, moderate pullback seems best. It is trigger sensitive, but that's not really a problem since the Rekord is so accomodating. Front sight is excellent and rear adequate -- I'm not sure who likes the midship sights but I'd prefer receiver mount (and even a simple peep would be nice). Wood and metal finish are excellent with the exception of a little roughness in the front sight base on mine. Accuracy can produce 1/8" groups at 10 meters and probably a better shooter could improve on that. Make sure to loctite the stock and trigger guard screws right off the bat -- all mine came loose pretty quick. I popped a bug buster on it for a while with no need for droop compensation (no guarantees on that of course) and the eye relief was adequate. Not in the least pellet picky and performs exceptionally with Air Arms Falcons, RWS R10, Meisterkugeln ... it would be easier to say what didn't work well (flower company and angry guy brands). In the end, though, it's a springer and that means something of a learning curve if you've been luxuriating with pneumatics. If you do scope it, there are covers available for the easily-removed rear sight, but it's simpler and cooler looking to just remove the lower plate from the existing sight and screw the rest back on. Actually looks like some kind of important gizmo. Doesn't interfere with scope or receiver sight.
Pros
Accuracy, looks, finish, ease of cocking, tolerance of grip technique, and accuracy.
Cons
Rear sight works well but not ideal for people who like receiver sights.
I'm building up this airgun with a 3-12x40 AO mil dot for my daughter as an upgrade to her old Gamo. After a good cleaning of the barrel I put seven rounds down the pipe to get the scope on target... I then put the next three rounds in the same hole at 20 yards. wow. RWS Meisterkugeln 8.2 grain
Pros
great trigger, really, at this price point it's a gem
Cons
none yet. I'll know more after a few hundred rounds.
This gun is so wonderful in so many ways. Its easy to cock, insanely accurate, handles well and is a joy to shoot. Sadly after purchasing this rifle I did some research and found that it has a design flaw that causes the cocking arm to chew away metal off the underside of the rifle. I told myself "well maybe it will not happen to yours". After around 200 rounds it was clear that parts of the cocking arm were making contact with the underside of the rifle making a rough scraping noise. I looked for fixes and found various "inserts" that fix the problem. These " inserts" did not stop my rifle from destroying itself with regular use and it continues to scrape. Also since I have taken the rifle apart to put in the inserts I belive I have voided the warrenty. This kind of defect is something I would have expected on a $50 Chinese rifle off amazon, not a expensive german rifle. Very disappointed with my purchase. If you are looking into this rifle I recommend you purchase the hw50 series they supposedly fixed this issue on the newer hw50s by putting a plastic insert in the cocking arm.
Pros
Accurate
easy to cock
fantastic trigger
unreal accuracy
Cons
has a major design flaw the manufacture does not seem to want to address.
This HW30s is more accurate than I expected and has improved my trigger control problems. I how have shot 1500 (.177) pellets of various weights and it likes them all. I have a weak right eye so am using a 4x12x40 scope and at 10 meters if the group isn't real tight, I do not look at the gun to be the problem, but me. I have some other rifles, RWS-54, RWS-34P Pro Compact, and 3 or 4 other lower cost brands, but I grab this rifle first. I like the smooth stock and the way it extends past the hinge area looks good to me.
Pros
Like others the stock finish and metal work is excellent. The trigger is great and if other rifles had a trigger like this, they would sell more.

I love springers. I really love spingers that can be shot accurately with good open sights. They don't have to be powerful, just accurate. This is that rifle. I quickly ran a tiin of inexpensive pellets through it just for break in. Now I'm working my way through the better pellets to see which is best. So far ( as usual) JSB 8.44 gr are very good. I usually shoot open sights at 15 to 20 yards; with an accurate rifle 10 yards is too easy, at 20 + I just don't have they eyes anymore. At 15 yards this rifle will hit 1" paddles every time. It would probably shoot some great groups with a scope but that's not what I bought it for.
Pros
Solid as a bank vault. Light weight, easy to cock, backyard quiet. Excellent open sights, very accurate, great trigger.
Great shooting light weight Air Rifle with Great Trigger !
Pros
Light Weight ,Quiet ,easy to shoot, very acurrate, Great 2 Stage Trigger ! Fast Shipping & Great price from Airgun Depot
Cons
None !
Right out of the box and all 3 shots landed in a half inch group at 15 yards. Definitely a keeper. Previously had returned 2 Hatsan mod 95 Vortex QE. The first one had finish and fiber optic came loose just after few shots. Must had been loose from factory. The 2nd one had some minor issues but the worst was after cocking it just won't fire. And when I tapped trying to break the barrel it let out a burst of air. Luckily it didn't fire the pellet. I am having no luck with Hatsan I guess.
This HW30S is so accurate to shoot and I can shoot all day. Love it and quality of this rifle is unquestionably good. Made in Germany stuff is always of very high standard and reliable.
Pros
Accurate, accurate and accurate. Doesn't matter what I fed it, it just shoot very accurately. Love it.
Cons
I only had this today and only had it for an hour shooting so I can't say. But really looking at the build and finish, I don't think there will be issues I had with Hatsan.
I'm a big HW fan, having owned 8 of them, and still in possession of 6. I bought the 30S for my 11 year old daughter to join me for plinking, small game hunting, and pest control. Despite the manageable weight and short overall length, it still has an adult length of pull making it a bit awkward for her to shoulder. The cocking effort is also heavier than I expected, but seems to be getting easier as the rifle breaks-in.
First I'll air my grievances that preclude a 5-star review: The adjustments out of the box were poor. The barrel pivot was very tight, making it difficult to cock and close. The trigger adjustment had too much sear overlap making the pull very heavy and mushy. Adjusting the easily accessible trigger weight screw, made the trigger light, mushy, and unpredictable. I had to adjust the Torx screw under the stock to get the trigger feeling like the proper, crisp, two stage Rekord. I expected better assembly QC for a $300 rifle. However, once these issues were addressed, the gun is good, and with break-in, it keeps getting better.
The shot cycle seemed harsh at first, but seems to be mellowing the more I shoot it. At last check, I was getting 600FPS with JSB 7.87.
The wood and metal finish is of very good quality and is in a class or two above most Chinese guns I have ever seen.
The accuracy is typical HW- meaning very good to excellent. The barrel was pretty clean out of the box with only a few patches needed to clear out factory residue. This particular example will shoot even the cheap Crosman Pointed pellets well under an inch at 32 yards, and it does even better with JSBs.
I have shot this gun a lot to get it broken in, and I've come to enjoy and appreciate this handy little rifle. It is great for casual plinking and short range pesting, and seems to be the best offhand shooter I own.
Pros
Very high quality.
Excellent Iron sights.
Great accuracy.
Cons
Barrel pivot and trigger required adjustment for proper function.
Length of pull could be a bit shorter to be more proportional to rifle size.
Solid build and great trigger! Bought this for my 11 year old and now I want one too..
Pros
Great walnut stock. Great trigger
Question?

Scott from USALooking for a light gun to eliminate some pine squirrels (chipmunks).
asked WvaskoThis is a good choice. If you are new to air guns you might start with something cheaper than the Weihrauch line though. Depends on how much you want to spend. I have a "El-cheapo" generic model B1 in .22 cal. pellet rifle , it has real wood stock and steel sights, I got it from a Big Box store. The B1 does a fine job on garden pests - for one tenth what this HW30S cost. comes down to how much you have to spend.
Anthony from USAThis is idea for small pests out to 60 feet (open sight),use Gammo rocket or polymag pellets and try for head shot. You will like this gun.
