For the quality and workmanship you can not buy a better air rifle for the money. Should have purchased one of these long ago.
Pros
Accuracy out of the box is phenomenal. Just feed it quality pellets such as JSB or Air Arms. Side lever is butter smooth. Trigger is fantastic. Stock is gorgeous. A pure pleasure to shoot. Attached picture is 5 shot group at 20 yards off a bench.
Cons
Wish the power adjustment had detents.
Received my Air Arms S500 single shot in .177 from Airgun Depot. Overall the item is very nice and
the build quality is evident. Bluing is nice, the barrel shroud has a matte look and air cylinder
has the classical deep blue shine. Only had a chance to shoot it indoors at very close distance, so
I cannot attest to accuracy as of yet but will update when I test further. So far I have only
fired it in the lowest velocity setting, which makes it very quiet, no crack at all, and this in a
confined indoors space. The cocking is smooth and upon loading a pellet and closing there is a
satisfying click which again has a very quality feel to it. I do find that loading is a cinch and
there is no hangup of the pellet upon closing the side lever. Being a single shot, there is less
chance of marring the pellet or having magazine pellet fit issues, although this could be more
mindset than actual performance. There is probably a reason why the highest precision air rifles are
single shots. The gun has a very balanced feel and is not front heavy at all. I like the stain of
the stock which is sort of a darker color which I prefer, and the contours have a well thought out
design which makes it comfortable to shoot offhand. Some say they dislike the safety but the action
of making the trigger safe/ fire is in a different direction (ie sideways) vs the pulling of
trigger to fire. Some other designs where the lever is in front of and in shape of trigger could be
more of a problem actually. Trigger is very nice and light and I have yet to adjust but I usually
keep my triggers stock. Have not tried other high end triggers so cannot compare, but compared to a
starter PCP rifle it definitely is much better as to be expected. As to Airgun Depot they have been
top notch in every aspect.
Pros
Nice Trigger, Quality Build, Quiet, Balanced Feel, Power Adjuster
Cons
None so Far
